Other bands besides 20

John Hendry KG5OIB

I've gotten into a rut to where I'm only using 20 meters to work PSK, but I know that there are opportunities on the other bands, but either I'm going to those bands at the wrong time, or everyone has just given up.   I'm on 30 right now, and I see a signal, but no responses to my CQ

Since we are still in a challenging solar cycle, what is the thought of setting up schedules to try to work the different bands (even 10 meters).

Thoughts?

this where it would be nice to have a chat room set up similar to what SKCC has.  If anyone on here is an SKCC member and I’m sure there is, you know exactly what I mean.

SKCC’s chat room is where many people check in and set up schedules with each other. Let people know what they need, etc.  Basically you can see who is on and what frequencies if they provide them.  It would be a very nice feature to have in P070’s arsenal.

I understand that things are a bit hectic, however, be nice to just have this on the back burner once things get going.

I like both the idea of fixed times for bands during this tough propogation and really interested on the six meter idea.

There is a chat feature built into groups.io - I am not sure if the direct link will work, but here it is: https://070club.groups.io/g/main/chat/2233

If that does not work, click on the "view/reply online" link in your email, that should bring you to the 070club page, and you should be able to find "Chat" on the left side.

John,

I think band conditions are not the major reason that the PSK segments are so quiet.  It’s more a matter of little or no traffic.  I’m seeing a lot of loud (s9) signals on 40m, 30m, 17m and 15m at various times of the day in the FT8 segments.

If you are seeing signals on the FT9 segments, obviously the propagation is there.  PSK requires a lot more patience than FT8 - keep calling.

Another country heard from,

I often try 40 meters at 2300 CDT (0400 UTC) in an effort to support our members who say the eastern US goes to bed too early. :)

PSKreporter indicates my CQs are are reaching Georgia, West Virginia, Colorado, and California (San Diego). But most of the time, not a peep on the waterfall.

So maybe give 7.070 a try when the sun goes down???

There is chat available in the groups.io for 070 club.

Well, I just made contact with Eric, KG6MZS on 17 meters.    It's 1304 miles away.
Wasn't there long, but enough to make a contact.

That is the only signal I saw on 17 meters over the last 45 minutes.    (But I did see a lot of FT8 signals).

I'm gonna move up to 30 meters  (10.141) and see if anyone wants to make some contacts there.   I'll start up about 19:55
