Thanks to all the POTA hunters who worked me today and to those who spotted me and generated enthusiasm. It was great to work you and to get outside and play radio in balmy weather (mid 40s) after being cooped up inside during a colder and snowier than usual February in Indiana.

Bob -- how do you do your vertical antenna for pota work?

Bob KC9UR
Hi Don,
I use an 18ft fiberglass pole and attach a 17ft wire at the top, running down the pole to 4 10ft radials on the ground at the bottom. The pole is slid over the handle of a screwdriver that is pushed into the ground. In the picture the pole was leaning because the ground was soft/muddy, and the wind pushed it over. I also use a QRPGuys Tri-Band Vertical matching unit at the base, which can resonate the 17ft vertical on 20m, 30m, and 40m (switch selectable). It's not the most efficient antenna, but it seems to work well, and is easy and quick to set up. I also sometimes use the pole to support the center of a 40m EFHW inverted V antenna for targeting closer-in contacts. It's resonant on 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m. Have a great day! 73, Bob, KC9UR

Milt, got 599 from you and then you disappeared on me. Tried calling several times, no response seen in waterfall. Nice to see you in the waterfall, no matter how briefly. 73 Jim K5SP

Bob, KC9UR, was operating POTA around noon on Saturday, Feb 27. I believe on 20M only that time.
I'm sure he will post his next activation on this Reflector. Are you a POTA collector and do you also activate POTA?? 73, Stan W9SMR ________________________________________ From: main@070Club.groups.io <main@070Club.groups.io> on behalf of David Tucker <nu4ndave@gmail.com> Sent: Monday, March 1, 2021 12:52 PM To: main@070Club.groups.io Subject: Re: [070Club] KC9UR POTA Effort Today Is Bob gonna be on 20 or 40 ?? Dave,
Terrific. We look forward to your POTA activation. Keep us posted. Have you considered doing an APE. Now, I can tell you, that can be a bundle of fun! I love your QRZ page. You are a walking Ad for PODXS and several other worthy groups! Jim,
Same scenario here. There you were, there you went...
I've got a new mouse. Must be that! I am seeing a lot of North --> South signals.
SFI=78, A=6, K=2, Moderate w/G2 -> Minor w/G1
Sometimes I think it's better just to work the traces I see, and be happy as opposed to trying to figure out what's going on with propagation, ya know?
I also see that it's time for me to start walking around the house with my little $6.95, AM transistor radio looking for the source of the wavy lines on my waterfall. Last time it was a 1/16" little green LED "power on" light on my Granddaughter's little flat panel tv. Always something...
