Any APEs for August?

If August is anyway like July, it will be too HOT to do APE here in Dallas, TX

I am in the preliminary planning stage of an APE the last few days of August when my wife and I will be visiting my parents in Eastern Long Island.  The station will be set up on our private property, so no POTA activation is planned.  Once I firm up the schedule, I will make a post.

Yes, I too will be in my shack.  I had started to think about APE, but August is too hot in DE for anything but inside radio.  The heat for FD was bad.  Just packing the 4x4 in the heat and I was shot for the rest of the day.  Maybe an APRIL APE would be better??  Age and heat don't seem to mix for me.

6m has been active with FT8, has anyone been on PSK?

When I see the APE dates for 2022 (I see they should be on the web), I will add them to my calendar.  At least the SHACK is not too warm.

Here's my APE plan: International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend from Cape Spear Lighthouse near St John's, Newfoundland.  This is the easternmost lighthouse and point in North America.  I'll be operating officially for LH Weekend from 0000z 20Aug to 2359 21Aug 2022.  I hope to be on the air before that so my APE will start noonish on the 19th of August through late on the 21st.  I'll be operating with my Yaesu 857 to a 20 meter hamstick or a multiband vertical clamped to the back door of my campervan in a parking lot near the lighthouse. Unless I get permission to throw up a dipole, then I'll do that.
Look for me on the air as I travel through New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Labrador on my summer adventure. I'll be operating as KB3RAN/VE.

Thanks Eric,  I've got your basic information now.  If you want to send more about your station and the park later, please do.  I like that you're using your dad's former call that is now a club callsign.

Are there others ready to share their info about APE activity?  It's time.

I'll be traveling starting next Monday through all of August.  I should have internet access but that's not guaranteed in Newfoundland/Labrador, my destination.  Is there a stay at home member that would help field and post APE plans if I don't get to them?  Thanks and see you from the road.

Thanks Eric!  Exactly the kind of info I was looking for.  I'll put those dates on my calendar and be looking for you.  Hope to work you then.  GO APE!

Rick,

After many years of no APE activity, I'm planning to get out this year.  In years past, my dad organized a large camping trip for the family.  It was usually well attended by him, most of my siblings and our spouses and kids, and generally the first week in August.  It was a great opportunity to catch up with people I didn't see as often as I'd like and to participate in APE activities.  Since my dad became a silent key in 2008, the trip has happened only once, and despite organizing it, I did not attend.

This year one of my sisters has reserved a group camp site at Yellowstone Lake State Park in Wisconsin from August 4 - 7.  With my work schedule I'm not sure I can go for the full four days, but I do intend to be there for at least part of the time.  While I'm there I'm planning to do a POTA activation/APE activity.  I'll probably use my dad's former call sign, N9ANA, now a club call sign, as that's generally what I use for POTA.  N9ANA (formerly KC9IMR) is PODXS #488 (LONP #226).

In less than 30 days it will be August and I'm wondering if anyone is planning APEs?  Haven't seen any posting here about it other than Dave's - KB3RAN - request to send him details so he can get them up on the website.

So what's happening?  Anyone planning something?  Some of us are stuck in our shacks and will be looking for APEs as our way to share in the fun.  I'd like to hear!
