Thanks for the spot, Bill. It was hard to get through with two loud CW stations surrounding us, but I got through for a new DXCC on 80. He's still there is anyone is looking. Steve W3HF 3.581.000 500 Hz below W1AW. PSK31 0045 UTC 73, Bill N4GBK in NC |

Steve, yes I saw you calling him..looked like another station was calling at the same time? I have the filters and everything else turned on in the TS-590S and it is still a bit rough copy. W1AW is booming in at S9+40. Would not have got him at all with my old rig.
I hope to find him on 10 or maybe even 160!

If there was someone else, I couldn't see him. It was a couple of his CQs after my QSO that KM4PMV showed up on my waterfall. I now have Gitmo on 10 through 80. Given my antenna situation, I doubt I could get to him on 160. 6m might be possible, but not likely at this time of year. Thanks again. Saw Jerry calling him but Jerry's signal was down almost in the noise here. Maybe he will be back at a later time in the evening.

He is just as tough for me as Alan was for you. I have answered his CQs endlessly but he can't hear me at all. Don't want to lift the power above 40W as that would probably put me in that wide signal LID group. Considering he is using a Force 12 C-3S at 65 feet I should be loud to him, but maybe I am trying while he is pointed at EU. Will keep trying Barry ---In 070@..., <john@...> wrote : KG4PH has been working PSK for a few days now. Have worked him PSK on 17m on 02-20 and 40m on 02-21. Barry; I can certainly understand where you are coming from. I am not sure where you are at (State) but guessing in the far upper NW. I suspect Gitmo is about as far away from you as AK is from me… maybe even further, I wish you luck in grabbing him before week’s end, based on earlier posting noting he will be active until the end of the week. I was not boasting about my contacts but just noting he had been on the air from at least 02-20. I was not aware he was a temporary station. Should I happen to spot him again, I will post here. But like you noted earlier… “It’s Easy”!! LOL. … I’m just saying’ 73 de K3JAE John Etling 070 #1820 LONP #321 PODXS 070 – Nobody Special – Just a Member From: "boat.anchor@... Barry;
Yeah, I realized that after thinking it over a bit ago – and as my slowly moving, caffeine deficient brain recalls you call British Columbia and all others territories, not states… my blunder!! J
Basing on that info, you’re getting to Gitmo is very much like me getting to AK or the upper territories of your country!! Lots of mumbling under breath, lots of wondering if the antenna is still in the air, lots of FUN!!! LOL J

not states/territories -- they're "Primary Administrative Subdivisions"!! At least that's the ADIF terminology :) And then there's "Secondary Administrative Subdivisions" -- in USA that's a county. technical footnote -- the ADIF fields are and .. (and is deprecated; replaced by ). Obviously those are the original field names that stuck, and later on they were defined generically (Primary/Secondary) to apply generally to different countries. --david KJ4IZW On Tue, Feb 23, 2016 at 12:10 PM, 'John Etling' john@... Yes the areas north of 60 are called territories and there are three of them. The middle earth between 49 and 60 are called Provinces and there are ten of them. Nunavut Territory is one of the most sparcely populated areas in the world and catching a callsign (VY0) from there is a real coup. Just checked and there seems to be 48 licenses issued. Northwest Territory (VE8) is almost as tough. I have one SSB and one RTTY and still looking for PSK31. This area has 114 licenses issued. Enough of the talking and time to check 10M Have a great day sun is shining here and just above the horizon. Temp is already up to 4C (38F) Barry ---In 070@..., <john@...> wrote : Barry;

WOW, I think I will stick with calling them States and Territories. If I have to say “Primary Administrative Subdivisions”, one of two things will happen; either everyone will continue to believe I have gone further down the road to “nuts” or my tongue will eventually tie itself into a knot. J
But thanks for the “correction” and offer Dave... but I think I prefer the simpler to say terminology!! Political correctness be darned!! LOL

Calling them Primary Administrative Subdivisions is ADIF terminology. It is not Canadian. They are Provinces and calling them States is not politically incorrect - it is just incorrect.
