Working MM Stations

Bill Garwood

I think most of us have worked one or more Maritime Mobile station(s) on PSK31.  Are these QSOs any good for any awards with any club or DX group?  Maybe when the 070 Club gurus are thinking of adding more awards, there could be one for working MM stations?

Just a thought.

Happy Radio!

Hey, Bill!

They specifically do not count for IOTA credit when the vessel is docked at an island.

We'll give some thought to the notion of a "/MM" endorsement of sorts - neat idea!

I have followed at least twice a AM station on SSB.  He flies a cargo 757. Couldn't break the pileup though on that one.

We have a LH/LS endorsement! All ya have to do is work one on the ILLW weekend for the year and report that to Milt, and you'll get a sticker.

ILLW was just this past weekend as a matter of fact.  I got my lighthouses - 4, I think.

Bill -

They count as grid squares towards the TARA grid award series.

http://www.n2ty.org/seasons/tara_awards_grid.html

In fact, there's a special category for working wet (all water) grids.

I’m _3_ yep, three, Tres, whatever from qualifying for LONP!!!

Who wants to help me get those three out of the way tomorrow *that would be Tuesday, 18 Aug during CENTRAL time zone hours. I’ll adapt to other time zones as needed or required.  Any wild APEs running tomorrow that I might be able to trap? That would assist me, me thinks! Scheds are appreciated. Assuming, of course band conditions play nicely, I believe daytime would be best on 20m. Would GREATLY appreciate the added assist here for only three not previously made 070 members for LONP. Long time coming and not only can I smell it.. I can see something that looks like a light….

Dan Morris - KZ3T

John — If you are on the radio now we can give it a try on any band.  I’m in NC but I do hear TN most all the time.  You name it and we’ll give it a try.

ILLW was just this past weekend as a matter of fact.  I got my lighthouses - 4, I think.

I think most of us have worked one or more Maritime Mobile station(s) on PSK31.  Are these QSOs any good for any awards with any club or DX group?  Maybe when the 070 Club gurus are thinking of adding more awards, there could be one for working MM stations?

Just a thought.

John — If you are on the radio now we can give it a try on any band.  I’m in NC but I do hear TN most all the time.  You name it and we’ll give it a try.

Assuming, of course band conditions play nicely, I believe daytime would be best on 20m. Would GREATLY appreciate the added assist here for only three not previously made 070 members for LONP.

I always try to work /MM stations when I can.
Three years ago I worked an UK yacht in the Pacific who was having communication problems. Managed to contact his home base and help resolve his situation over a couple of days.
That is what Ham radio is really all about being out there to help in times of disaster or trouble whilst having a bunch of fun doing it.
Even in times of lousy [prop.

John — If you are on the radio now we can give it a try on any band.  I’m in NC but I do hear TN most all the time.  You name it and we’ll give it a try.

Any Takers??! I’m just sayin… no beggin…. J

We have a LH/LS endorsement! All ya have to do is work one on the ILLW weekend for the year and report that to Milt, and you'll get a sticker.

ILLW was just this past weekend as a matter of fact.  I got my lighthouses - 4, I think.
