New 070 Credits / LID rant

John Etling

Am aware of the LONP credit. Am wondering if they will count towards TDW, - seems to me if they were approved and have a valid 070 number then they should count – otherwise what’s the purpose of getting new members, allowing them to participate then tell them their contacts do not count on either end? Would make for a fast exodus of members me thinks.  The three I made were in the 2050 membership series. I’m not much of a contester and usually do not partake in them much but decided to try and did… OK, mainly on 20m as all the other bands were not real cooperative. Hate to think I’m gonna lose TDW credit on 3 calls just because they are too new to participate, and frankly, I am not aware of what “too new” a call would be since I do not keep up with that. They have a 070 number, I figure it is a good points contact.

As for the whining idiot LID in Texas, I have heard him on/off all day whining and crying about us contesters. I say join in and quit whining. MAYBE he might be able to make a few new contacts instead of the few that will put up with his grouchy ass.

Luckily I have avoided him. He did call me, with me clearly calling CQ-070 TDW, and recognizing his call figured he wanted to further inflict his filth so I decided to ignore him to spare listening to his rant and his hatefulness towards any contest. I can see him sitting on the local 2M repeater and telling anyone who is not a regular to get lost, never come back and “I hate your guts”….

John -

Please be patient. Those QSOs will count. Just allow time for the software bots to catch up with each other. Submitting your entry before the contest is even over means the bots can't possibly catch up with folks who are just joining now.

And even if David tells everyone to upload again, that's so much easier than the way we (and all other contest organizations) used to have to submit contest entries.

It is really sad that those who cry and whine the loudest about contesters probably never gave a thought that many of the advances in antenna design, radio design, you name it came from the contesters who wanted/demanded better performance from their equipment. I am not the biggest contester out there, but I do enjoy my Icom 7410 with it's twin pass band filters, 9 levels of audio filters going all the way to 250, and I can make it even smaller if I also use the notch filter. I could go on all afternoon. Granted there are a lot of radios better than mine, but what incentive is there for the equipment manufacturers to make better equipment if the anti-contest CB's (cty babies) have their way.

The WARC bands have been around since 1979, and half of them don't even know about it...

Well, I played in the TDW once before a few years ago but not much at all.  This time was able to participate much more although not as much as I liked as we have family here for a couple of weeks. But those times I was able to get on I had a blast and was also able to work 40 and 80 this time which I have not been able to do in years.  So a good time was had. I will submit my meager log anyway.  thanks to all who made a contact with me.   It was also a good one to acquire many new 070 numbers!

The contest scoring bot is different from the award scoring bot. So you have to upload to each separately.

If you already had LONP credit in the past, you only have to submit new QSOs (ones since your last upload) to the awards bot. If you have no LONP credits on file, then you should upload starting with your 070 membership date.

In order to get new LONP credits, you'll have to run your ADIF through the ENDORSEMENT checker. The contest scorer and endorsement checker are two separate entities.

I hope that answers your question.

This is all I am asking… Patience, I have lots of. I agree with you that contest submission is nice. I have no issue with it just wanted clarification.

BTW: I uploaded “early” as my almost 30 hours of calling contest CQ had ended for me so thus I uploaded, and went to bed.

If you already had LONP credit in the past, you only have to submit new QSOs (ones since your last upload) to the awards bot. If you have no LONP credits on file, then you should upload starting with your 070 membership date.

I recommend uploading your whole PSK log, not just from membership date ..  LONP credits are only from membership date, but for lots of the other awards earlier Q's are valid.

Exactly right ... And this weekend i was behind in keeping the scorer member file updated -- but that's because we had so many new members join during the contest .. a pretty nice problem to have!! :)

> And even if David tells everyone to upload again

No need to re-upload -- when i make any logic changes I also go through and reload the log submissions,  so that everything is calculated against same set of logic.

yep -- and easier on the admins!    Milt, Eric, Dan, and others here probably have some good hand-scoring stories
