Congrats Mike! I also recently got one for my birthday (November) amd really like it. Also got my first amplifier with it, a KPA500, so I’m jazzed. Digital modes are so easy with the 7300, after a few rig settings which you can easily fond in the groups.io Icom 7300 group.

Have fun and enjoy your new rig!

Mike N6STA,
Great Idea .  Lots of useful tips on Youtube.  I don't own a 7300 but have been looking a them for some time.  I have a IC-7200 and struggled to get everything working the way I wanted.  Hints:  Load the Icom USB driver before you plug the USB cable into the computer.  Know which version of Windows you have, 64 or 32 bit.  Check the versions of firmware that on your rig to see if you need to update.  It might have the latest versions.  Plug your USB cable into the main USB hub on your computer, most likely the one on your computer motherboard.  I struggled two days trying to FLDIGI to work.  I read a post and moved my USB cable from the front of my computer to the back where the motherboard USB connector is located and everything worked fine.  Consider using a more user friendly rig control software.  A few have great visual interfaces and allow you to control many rig functions, volume, RF gain, filters, band selections and more.  A few allow you to store frequency, filter settings and mode for all your favorites.  Enjoy your new rig. Congrats.

Christmas Run Results

The re-establishment of the 2020 Christmas Run was a resounding success. Twenty six members completed the Christmas day 25 QSO challenge and will receive the Christmas Run endorsement sticker for their efforts. Another 8 members participated but were short of the needed 25 QSO’s.

Much gratitude is due Steve, W3HF for recognizing the appeal of this under the COVID-19 driven challenges to family and neighbor gatherings. And because of so many issues with our Endorsement Checker software, Steve offered to manually check the submitted logs and provide the results.

Thank you, Steve!!

ITs an older DX-SR8 and it has been in my garage for 2 years or so.  I will swap the FT450 that I have on my desk and put that in my garage.  I think I might sell the Alinco for 300 or so as its a good starter radio for someone.

My rebate said it expires 12/31/20, but has a 45 day grace period.

BTW, which Alinco ?  Had a SR-8T I sold on Greedbay for $425 and was never out of box;  had it listed higher but no nibbles.  Some deadbeat offered me $350, but told him to walk.

Yes, receiver sensitivity is very important, as well as the filtering on cw signals, without spending an additional $100-$150 for a 500 hz filter. But, that's just me. I've not parked my derriere in front of one yet. But I will!
Like I need another radio? HA! Currently, I alternate between my Yaesu FT-1000MP, my Icom IC-7800, for digital work and I just picked up a Yaesu FT-991A for this coming years APE season. Somewhere in the clutter is an Icom IC-756 Pro III that's taking a break from the trench's.

Used to upload after every session, but my LoTW got screwed up on computer when I upgraded from WIN XP to WIN7 and now updates are infrequent.

Eqsl for me really has little value because I don't go after their awards.  I only use it to see what stations I work don't use LoTW (there are a few).

If you bought a 7300 last year (2020) you got a $100 rebate on the $1000 Price tag which brings it down to $900. So, with $600 stimulus check that's more than half. Unless you use "new math" which makes the cost ???
