The corollary is: Just because you don’t see a signal, that doesn’t mean you won’t be stepping on someone that can see you.

It’s very possible to cause interference and not know you are doing it.

Mike, buying a ticket does not statistically change your chances of winning.  The odds against winning are so long that not having a ticket doesn't make a difference.

BTW, hello 070!  I've been away from the radio for a couple of years but I'm trying to play again.  Though it appears that 99.9% of hams are doing nothing but FT-8 now.  Last few nights, 20 and 30m CW and PSK were nearly dead,   No reply to ten minutes of CQ'ing on 30 meters?   Is there a place where 070 members gather on the air?

I'm coming to this party a little late, but I strongly recommend Tom Rauch's  (W8JI) website when it comes to 260. As an experiment, he built two 300 foot towers and raised a half wave dipole between them. He says his inverted L's beat that antenna 98% of the time.  Granted, his inverted L's are quite properly installed, with extensive radial fields. He also uses beverages for receive, I believe.

My plan is an inverted L with either as many radials as I can get up under it (could be a couple thousand feet of wire done right) or possibly a folded counterpoise..... I'm still studying on that. I'll use one or two of DX Engineering's active receive antennas or a flag or pennant or two.

I had a half wave dipole bent into an L at the feed point (if viewed from overhead) that was about 30 or 35 feet up. I used it to get my "20 on 160" 070 award and played in an 070 Contest or two, but it was honestly a flop.

I'm really looking forward to my inverted L and 80 OCFD antennas!

Y'all be good!

Two 300 ft towers ???  Yipes !    Couldn't even get one in before county would be all over me with their 75 ft. ordinance.  Had a DX friend that put up a 140 ft. tower and they took him to court which cost him about $8000 and he still had to take tower down.  Turns out one o county Board members could see tower from her house - politics !

Most of us a lucky enough to get up something on our small lots which works halfways well on 160m.  God bless those that have the acreage to put up big antennas !

The corollary is: Just because you don’t see a signal, that doesn’t mean you won’t be stepping on someone that can see you.

It’s very possible to cause interference and not know you are doing it.

If you deliberately "park" next to it and send CQ, you are doing it intentionally  it's DQRM no matter how you spin it.   Otherwise there is no point to park beside him if you're not trying to run him off.   I agree that FT8 down around 070 is a bit low and is in the PSK operating area, but for now at least, there are hundreds if not thousands of FT8 stations on 20m and other bands and II think eventually they will move UP, and pretty much make JT65 and JT9 a thing of the past, like PSK31 did to RTTY.  But lets not stoop to DQRM'ing other hams.  Just keep operating as usual, but if the frequency is clear, and the band is crowded, there will be encroachment.   Anytime I am in a forum of digital interest, I will remind others of the PSK area and to avoid it with FT8.

Nice callsign Mike, hi
