As many/most of you have probably figured out by now, we have transferred the "070" group from Yahoo Groups to groups.io.

This was done for a host of reasons, and I think we'll be happier here.

Please log in to  groups.io with whatever email address your Yahoo Groups posts were sent to and have a look around.

We will, in time, begin to utilize more of the features of the new user group host, but one we should begin using now is hashtags.  That's those cute little #thingies you see at the end of messages, used to describe what's found in the message.  You'll be able to mute conversations based on hashtags, or by thread, and the hashtags will greatly enhance our search capabilities moving forward.

The 070_Contest group has NOT been moved yet. I am still trying to decide what avenue to take with it, i.e. a separate group or a subgroup of the main group. I think the subgroup route makes the most sense at this point, but I'm glad to hear other thoughts on the matter.

Matt, you hit the nail on the head when you said “once it has been approved AND A
NEW LOG IS RUN” - That is why I didn’t see my 366 turn blue. I hadn’t had any activity and hadn’t uploaded another log until today . . . So once I did that, then it triggered the Clock & Calendar for submission. Now it makes sense.

Jerry - technically Orange would indicate that it's been submitted for approval. Once it's actually been approved and a new log is run, it'll turn blue to indicate that it's actually approved and in the trophy case.

Bright green, of course, means something is ready to be submitted, and the check box next to it needs to be checked and the SUBMIT button pressed.

Just a review for those who might not be familiar with the process!

The subgroup would be fine for most, I believe, but as you said, there are some that don't want contest stuff. There are others that don't want the non-contest stuff.  I think there is a huge overlap between the two, but I think the separation that does exist is a good enough reason to have a separate group. I believe I'll work in that direction in the next few days.

Any other thoughts on the matter from anybody else?

Here's another reason to make it separate: The reason we set up a special contest group on Yahoo was that not all members wanted the contest emails. I know we could use hashtags to highlight contest-related messages. But if a member doesn't want contest messages, THAT member has to take the action to "opt out" of receiving contest-tagged messages. So it puts the burden on the member who DOESN'T want the messages, not the member who DOES. And even then, if someone forgets to insert #contest in their message subject, then even those who've chosen to opt out will still get the message. (Yes, I know that some of us used to occasionally put a contest message on the regular 070 list, but I think it will be easier to forget a hashtag than it was to mail to the wrong group.)

I vote for a separate group (even though we're not really voting).

It's all good, Jerry! You did seem a little out of sorts, so thanks for the words.

A 24ft ladder is a beast, especially when doing the wah-toozy on a major interstate at rush hour!

I once witnessed a 6-8 foot fiberglass stepladder fall out of a truck doing 80mph in I-85 in Atlanta. It was right in front of an 18 wheeler, thankfully, and did no harm to the truck (I don't reckon it did, anyhow). That thing looked like a bomb went off, as it just EXPLODED into a gajillion little pieces of blue fiberglass! The remaining grizzly carcass slid over to the inside pull-off lane and was barely identifiable as having once been a ladder.  Amazing the things that can happen with ladders.

Getcha come new ratchet straps in the morning, after you've processed that big, tall drink all night. *GRIN*

Sorry if I sound a bit snippy today.   Dropped a 24 ft. extension on I-90  outside Chicago this evening in rush hour traffic.  Managed to get it back on roof of Equinox and make it home driving back roads.   The headwind was out of west  and I'm a nervous because I was trying to avoid dropping big ladder in someone's windshield.

I'm going to find some big & tall to relax.

Sorry again.
