I have always used PSK Reporter.info maps to track band/mode activity.

Currently (4:46 UTC), they are showing 70 PSK31 signals being heard by monitoring stations on all bands in the past 15 minutes, with almost half of those signals on 20 meters. There is some DX traffic between the US and Canada and various parts of Europe. so that is promising.

However, in contrast, there are 2437 signals using FT8 in that same 15 min period involving stations in North America, South America, the Carribean, Europe, Asia (including Japan), South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Although the largest number of signals are on 20 meters, there are some on every band from 160 meters up to 6 meters

I have not tried FT8, but I have got to admit that with poor band conditions during weak solar cycles, modes like FT8 and JT9/JT65 might be the best option for making contacts, especially if you are looking for DX. As a proponent of PSK, and PSK31 in particular, that is not an easy admission for me to make.

That's great Dick.  Will be watching for your posts and for your calls.  The reason EL28 is in demand is that it was excluded from the endorsement specifically because so much of it is water.

Work US stations in 436 of the 488 CONUS gridsquares, in increments of 50. We took the ARRL FFMA map (http://www.arrl.org/files/file/FFMA/FFMA_2010Map-C.pdf) and excluded the following (nearly all water or VE/XE): CM79 CM86 CM93 CM94 CN70 CN72 CN73 CN74 CN75 CN76 CN77 CN78 DL79 DL98 DM02 DM03 DM12 DM22 DM31 DM61 EL15 EL28 EL58 EL79 EL84 EL86 EN29 EN48 EN57 EN58 EN62 EN63 EN64 EN67 EN85 EN86 EN92 FM02 FM13 FM25 FM26 FM27 FN03 FN14 FN25 FN35 FN46 FN51 FN53 FN57 FN66 FN67

That said, I do have 2 EL28 stations in the log that I worked while we were on our 2016 Farewell Tour.  One lives down there on the coast and the other was "just passin' through."  I'm sure you will have plenty of takers if you call from EL28!  Travel safe!

Hi Everyone,

I have your request for grids and will try to post on the group when I plan on being in those grids.  Will either the night before or morning before we leave.  Will try to give estimated time also.

I am surprised that EL28 is not needed, since not much of it is dry land.

When I suggested the endorsement it was to work ANY 25 different stations on PSK31 between 00:00 and 24:00 Zulu on Dec. 25 on any and all bands where you might find a PSK31 signal.  I believe that is how the endorsement has been the criteria from the start.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas to all !

Mike - the guidance for the contest is to "Work 25 PSK-31 QSOs on December 25th 2018 UTC".

It IS PSK-31 only, as is the rest of the club. Maybe that was a typo on your part.

I need DM74, DM85, and DM23.  I'll be looking for you.  Thanks for doing the "road trip" grids!  Safe travels, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Dick -

Yes, I need a few more than Jerry: all except EL28. But I may not be on the air on 12/28, due to the aforementioned family vacation.

I'll be in Denver on 9 Jan--maybe we can work then.

Hi All,
Will be on the road again for an extended trip out West.  Should be in DM74 and DM85 on 12/28 on they way out.  Dm23 on 1/9/18 and EL28 from 1/12/18 to 1/18/18.  I know Steve and Jerry are looking for these grids if anyone else it let me know and I will try to work you.  Will generally be on 20 when moving and 20/40 when stopped for the night.  Will be using KC3EF/M as last time. We are heading out on 12/25 going thru FL, AL, MS, LA and TX on I10.  Then going up on US69 and US82 to Amarillo, TX.  Then I40 to Gallup, NM and Kingman, AZ.  Then US93 to Las Vegas.

On the return we are heading down CA to Salton Sea and then back South across AZ, NM, to TX.

Will probably give a call when we enter a new grid.
