Hello everyone -

I discovered the TDW via the contestcalendar.com website and, because I really enjoyed working PSK31 around 15 years ago, I wanted to give it a try. I've been disappointed in the lack of PSK31 ops recently, but I was very pleased to discover a group that was still actively involved in the mode, and further to encounter some very friendly and courteous operators during the weekend.

Although reception is continuously poor at my QTH, I managed to make 38 contacts, which enabled me to apply for membership in this great organization. I was very impressed with the dedication of ops who continued to CQ right up to the last minute on Sunday, especially Barry VA7GEM who was my first contact of the weekend.

Anyway I wanted to thank everyone who went into the logbook during the contest and also to thank Jim K5SP for dealing with membership apps so quickly. I'm very happy to be a member and hope to meet you all on the air.

Well...  got my scores and LOTW stuff submitted. Answered bunches of Eqsl's  and sent off my newer LONP data to Milt.

Now comes the real work of checking through all the endorsements.  About halfway through all june 6 entries and about to June 5, but taking a breather.

If anyone has endorsements they've submitted in past few months and didn't get credit please let me know.  I make some errors, but mostly it's the wonky checker. For example if you upgrade your LONP in May 2021, it will mark all previous LONP as being upgrades in May 2021 as well.  Same with grids.  I usually try to address this when going through endorsements, but I might slip up.

Everything from April/May was sent to Jim , K5SP, for distribution to his sticker crew.  New members are doing fine with their endorsements so far.

Keep those endorsements coming !!!

Thanks,

I was one of the 0000 stations. By end of the contest, I had accumulated 140 numbers. Over double what was needed to join the 070 Club. I am now the proud holder of #2844.  I am hoping that as conditions improve that when FT8 gets so crowed that a lot of us will switch to PSK31.

What a pleasant surprise to see all of those 0000 stations on the last day.  Usually that last day is a bummer with mostly dupes, but all of the 0000 stations gave us renewed determination to log a few more contacts.  I think the reason  for so many quad zeroes was because several members took 5 or 6 minutes from contesting and explained to non members how they could join the fun.  Kudos to those who took the time.  Might be a good idea to talk up the Firecracker Sprint during qso's for the next few weeks and see if we can get more 0000 stations.

Yep, scanned over it and so many other after the TDW.  You've certainly been around a bit.

WAs licensed in 1977 as a Novice and made the progression up to Advanced in 1979, but only became an Extra in 2000 on a lark.  No was was more surprised than me.

Spent 16 years with ARRL incoming Bureau and a few years as an OO. It was fun, but had too many irons in fire with doing local clubs newsletter every month for 10+ years and running my own alarm business .  The business eventually stressed  me out so much that I had a stroke in 2019.  Now I just hobble around, hi, hi !

Spent a bunch of years with 10-10 as a Director and later Secretary. As the paperchasing end wound down, so, did I.  Far too many 10-10ers passed away (there were a lot of YLs back then !)  One of my favorites was Gini, N7HDB in NV.

Anyhow, welcome to PODXS !

TDW 2021 in the books

GA - Bob - K4VBM

Boy that was a lot of fun - three whole days of PSKing.  Making contacts with all those familiar calls, especially my 24 x 7 partners, and some new member numbers for my LONP (still need to figure out how  to claim them all hi hi), as well as ALL the 0000 folks.  Even had a nice ragchew with a 0000 contact  who asked for some feedback on his signal, and turns out we have a lot in common (same age, similar work background, etc.).  I see some of them have already joined our group, and hopefully more to come.  Special thanks so much to the organizers, and also to those Bonus stations that were literally all over the bands.  You guys really helped with all the fun.  So nice to see everyone, and the bands full of PSK signals!  All I can say is WOW!  And the propagation gods even looked down with some favor on us.

I uploaded my .ADI, and this is what it told me:

CALL:K4VBM
POWER:High Power 100 watts
EMAIL:ptcorners@...
070 Number:2727

Qs:168 MEMBERS:86 BONUS:1700 Total:16148
Probably my best effort in any 070 contest so far!
Already looking forward to the next one!

73, and stay safe everyone!
