Antenna TESTING AND UPCOMING tdw

I've replaced some feedlines, and I'm doing some testing, looking for weak components.
In particular I'm testing the lower frequencies, 40 and 80 meters.
If anyone wants to do likewise, maybe we can do some skeds?
I'm available most evenings from greyline on.

Howdy Jim,

I am available for at least 6 hours each day on all bands.

Jim,

Like Lee said, did it last year and it was a blast.  Will work all three days and can do 160 to 6.  I'll give it another shot.

Although  I have a commitment during the day on Saturday, I'll be on the air during this event and can be a bonus station in Area 3 if you have no one else.  I will be on later Sat afternoon and evening.

Jim,
I'd like to throw my name in the hat, volunteering myself & my station to be a Bonus Station for the 2021 T.D.W.
I'll be BPSK 31 QRO, (35 watts, +/-), for the entire 72 hours, on all bands.
I've re-co-ax'd my antenna's, faced the shiny side of all aluminum elements to the North, East and South & West.
I think it's important for a Bonus Station to be on all bands with as much "butt in chair" as he/she can possibly do.
I've been a Bonus Station before, and if chosen this year, I'll give it a 110% effort, again, on all bands.
I just received a shipment of Café du Monde coffee & chickory from Amazon and I'm ready!

The TDW contest is next month, and it is time for us to put out a call for volunteers to be Bonus Stations this year.
The Top Dawg of last years contest, KD6TR, is scheduled to be a bonus station.  We would like to have at least one volunteer from each call area for this one.
Being a bonus station does not preclude you from being in the contest, the bonus stations are competing against each other, and you will find you are very popular among other stations attempting to score the bonus points.
All we ask is that you plan on operating for several hours every day of the contest, and make our members happy.
If you would like to be considered for a bonus station position, just provide your information (times, bands, etc., that you plan to operate) to K5SP as soon as possible.  We would like to have our Bonus stations identified on the web page as soon as we can.

Yes, I'll be doing Field Day. And I think I will do part of the time on my BuddiPole.  I usually get some wire in the air from trees and/or masts and will do that also.  I do PSK ops for Field Day.  Look for K3CAL club callsign on 20 and 40.

Are you doing FD this year?

It's really nice if you have an antenna analyzer to check swr.  You can listen to strongest signal by moving the tap along the coil but that's not always the best swr match.  Be sure to have the cheat sheet for setting up the arms, extensions and taps. I run psk ops at 25-50 watts mostly.  Be sure to fasten the tripod to the ground with a ground screw, weight or something to keep it from falling over. Look for the NVIS set up; that works pretty well, too.

I'll be a chimp for those days. Last delivery should be here tomorrow. I hope to be activating a POTA as well.
We went for overnighter to test out some equipment last week.
Battery and solar panels came in yesterday.
Finishing up some lights on the jeep today and tomorrow.

Subject: Endorsement Daze #4 – LONP and CHIMP CHASE

Saturday, May 22

Sunday May 23

This is our 4th Endorsement Daze Event  -  IT IS NOT A CONTEST.

This activity is intended to promote more on-air time among members and provide targeted opportunities to achieve specific PODXS Endorsements.

A New Challenge will be the CHIMP CHASE, designed to encourage informal outdoor portable operation. Grab an Atta-Boy by going portable during Daze #4.

First Objective - LONP

If you are a new member, this is your Golden Opportunity!  You can start accumulating toward that 100 member contacts required for LONP Membership - Currently, only 451 of our 2,832 members have qualified.

We know that this Event helps. While participating in Daze #1, newcomer, Mike W4BZM (PODXS # 2653), managed to raise his LONP count from 11 to 20. A year later, prior to the Three Day Weekend Contest (TDW), he had 96 members logged. After that contest he had 104 members logged.  He is now LONP #433.

NEW CHALLENGE !!

Second Objective – CHIMP CHASE  -  Start Planning Now!

We have had a very successful APE program for years and we now expand the challenge to encourage Portable Operation on your own schedule by now chasing the CHIMP (A Portable setup of your choice)

A Chimp qualified portable expedition site must be away from your home radio shack. You may use home power but you need to set up a temporary/portable antenna and station away from the home shack. Backyard ops and park picnic benches are encouraged for this category.

If this operation is at an official POTA or SOTA so much the better! Let us know the details using the Reflector.

For this introductory attempt to be a valid CHIMP CHASE, the operation must take place during the Daze #4 event and make at least 5 two-way PSK31 contacts with different call signs / bands.

Post your intended CHIMP activation on the Reflector including times and bands of operation to greatly increase your successes.

Note that no prior approval is required to enjoy a sunny afternoon on the patio!

Following successful completion of your CHIMP operation, post your story on the Reflector or just send me an email advising me of your successful operation and a “CHIMP CHASE Atta-Boy” PDF will be emailed to you.

Our Endorsement Daze #4 event is planned for 48 hours in hopes of finding everyone’s available operating times.

There is nothing critical about this timing. Get on when you can and the conditions are favorable and enjoy the event. Post your intentions on the Reflector.

Starting: 00:00 UTC on Saturday, May 22

Ending:  23:59 UTC on Sunday, May 23

Join the fun and enjoy…Call: CQ CQ 070 Daze de (Ur Call)

If you will be operating portable, include CHIMP (or Portable) in your CQ.

For Endorsement credit, upload your complete log promptly to the Online Endorsement Checker :  Endorsement Checker

If your 070 membership number is above #2786, you should apply for LONP credit by submitting your entire log of member contacts per the Instructions !

As you see activity on the waterfall, be sure to “SPOT” those calls and your own to PSKReporter and on the Reflector. Be sure to Spot any CHIMPS you see.

It’s OK to QSO with non-members, too. Just show them how much fun the

PODXS 070 Club can be and welcome them to join us.

After you enjoy the Daze #4, please send me your comments and suggestions to improve this Event. I hope to have a repeat Endorsement Daze in August.
