Re: FLDIgi on Windows 10

Ray Clements

The chances are that the COM port that Windows 10 assigned to the radio is different from the one Windows 7 assigned. If you copied over all the FLDGI settings, the COM port would be the one from Windows 7.

It is also possible that you do not have the proper drivers your radio installed. You might need to get them from the ICOM web site.

To check your COM ports open "Control Panel", "Device Manager", "Ports (COM and LPT)" and look for an entry for Silicon Labs, which is the USB to COM port chip that ICOM uses. Check the COM port settings (number plus baud rate, data bits, parity, and stop bits). I have a ICOM 7600 and those settings are 38,400 baud 8N1 and no flow control.

Then make sure your FLDGI is using the same settings as the radio.

Running a net requires an individual’s time & effort, support from members and good propagation.  I did this many years ago and it was an enormous bite of time out of busy schedule and family time.  There will be days that you have other things you want to do and they will take a back seat.

If you can find a group who is willing to take on a regular net then, it might be a once-a-month commitment or once every 2 month depending on size of group.

Keep this in mind if you want a net.

If anyone has 160m thoughts for the coming Winter season this may give you some ideas.  These are commercials made and may be a bit pricey for some, but it’s a definite good way to improve a vertical’s radiation. While these are for mobile they would certainly help fixed verticals.

With a bit of god old American ingenuity thee ides may be adapted to 5BTV’s and the like.

Thinking of going low band mobile?    Here are some very creative capacity hats – could also be used to make shorter 40, 80 or 160 verticals.

Some wild capacity hats to improve your mobile antenna.  It gets wilder
the farther you go down the page.  He never explains why he has a
telescoping pole next to the radiating mast.  Guess it's necessary for
mechanical support.

These are the two stations I worked too ;) I did not see you on my waterfall. I am at 27. Three more should not be a problem... I check 30m a few times a day and send out some CQs, but 99 out of a 100 without anybody coming back to me. Scheduled operating events seem to be better.
