You have described me perfectly. Getting ready for a vacation back home in Ohio next week, so only operating where I can squeeze it in today from home.

In the Puget Sound north area we are looking at cloudy and a possible high of 68.  With our QTH being next to a lake, we have advised everyone to bring a windbreaker, head covering and warm gear.

Suits me fine.  75° is awfully warm in this part of the country, HI HI.

W7SKY is not a member of 070.  The club call is used only for FD and ARRL affiliation.

I am the main proponent of PSK mode in addition to one other active member.  Other than the two of us there seems to be minimal interest in HF or DX, interestingly. The main common interests in the club are Emcomm, nets and building/crafting.  My impression is that the large local Microsoft ham group makeup is similar. And there's certainly nothing wrong with that.

Our club web site person has done a fabulous job.  Lots of info in addition to club stuff. Take a look sometime.  www.w7sky.org

Roger that Jim!  Yesterday we hit 99F with a 113 heat index.  Current WX at 10 AM is 90F with 80% humidity.  My Heat index chart says that is 107.  High today is supposed to top 100F actual.  I just finished ALL my outdoor activities for toady....unless we get T-storms and I have to dash out an tip the vertical over.  Take care, stay inside, and thank God for A/C!

I plan on operating some this evening and a little tomorrow. Not enough to win anything but enough to say I was there. My Gap Titan DX is on the ground, awaiting some final repair (as an old man with COPD, can not go outside much the past few days, heat index yesterday was 107, and takes your breath away) so, all I have is my end fed wire.

FT8, like it or not, is the hot new mode that is sucking ops away from other modes. I think it should be discussed, regarding how to lure some of them back.   I think maybe you were kidding, Jerry?  LOL!

Re: FLDIgi on Windows 10

Ray Clements

The chances are that the COM port that Windows 10 assigned to the radio is different from the one Windows 7 assigned. If you copied over all the FLDGI settings, the COM port would be the one from Windows 7.

It is also possible that you do not have the proper drivers your radio installed. You might need to get them from the ICOM web site.

To check your COM ports open "Control Panel", "Device Manager", "Ports (COM and LPT)" and look for an entry for Silicon Labs, which is the USB to COM port chip that ICOM uses. Check the COM port settings (number plus baud rate, data bits, parity, and stop bits). I have a ICOM 7600 and those settings are 38,400 baud 8N1 and no flow control.

Then make sure your FLDGI is using the same settings as the radio.

David:

Running a net requires an individual’s time & effort, support from members and good propagation.  I did this many years ago and it was an enormous bite of time out of busy schedule and family time.  There will be days that you have other things you want to do and they will take a back seat.

If you can find a group who is willing to take on a regular net then, it might be a once-a-month commitment or once every 2 month depending on size of group.

Keep this in mind if you want a net.
