PSKFest Logger - Gen Log

N3DQU@...

Hey PSKers! If you're looking for a logging program to run the PSKFest
with this weekend, suggest you check out W3KM's Gen Log. Not only will Gen
Log do the PSKFest, but it will also log the TDW, Rumble and just about every
other contest out there! Check it out at <
http://www.qsl.net/w3km/gen_log.htm > ...Note: If you don't have Gen Log on
your machine yet, you have to download both genlog.exe and genlogz.exe files
(Install genlog.exe first before installing genlogz.exe). If you already have
the full version of Gen Log installed, you only have to download genlogz.exe
for the v4.8 updates...cu Friday nite! 73 de Jay N3DQU.

SPC

N3DQU@...

Here is the scoop on SPC. I thought this was a fairly common contest
acronym, but have gotten many requests for more information, so that is my
fault for not explaining it better.
The S stands for US state, and that means each US state is a multiplier.
The P stands for Canadian province, and the C stands for DXCC country. That
means that every state is a multiplier, every Canadian province is
multiplier, and every DXCC country is a multiplier. That gives you a
potential for almost 400 multipliers!
For the PSKFest, count each multiplier only once (not per band like the
Rumble), but you get credit for every QSO you work as long as it isn't a dupe
on the same band.
For the exchange, US stations will send the two letter state abbreviation,
the Canadians will send their province abbreviation, and the DX stations will
usually send the primary prefix assigned to their country. Here are some
examples:
N3DQU DE OK1AK 599 OK K
OK1AK DE N3DQU 599 PA K
OK1AK DE VE3CT 599 ON K
OK1AK DE ON4CAS 599 ON K
Note that ON sent from a VE3 station is Ontario province, while ON sent from
a Belgium station is Belgium, so you also have to pay attention to the
callsign! Also, don't forget that the serial number was removed from the
exchange, send only Call, RST and SPC. You did remember to set up a macro to
tell the others, right? Jay N3DQU.

Re: EA9CD

DL2AYL@...

He might have changed his strategy when he discovered he is a rare
one in PSK, in SSB and other modes are more hams operating from EA9
and sending cards via the bureau and his chances to get a qsl direct are
not so great. It is just a way to increase his income.
Erika/DL2AYL

Re: EA9CD

AA8QQJMauch@...

Hi All,
My take on what is going on here is this. If Jose does not have a paper QSL
for a certain DX, for a certain band, then he rejects the eQSL and demands a
paper QSL. Could be strategy for making digital DXCC, then again, could be
just being a jerk. Either way I don't think it's proper etiquette, and if he
were an 070 member, I think I would have to have a talk with the executive
board about his possible ejection from the club. I know there are no
"written" rules about this kind of behavior, but this seems to fall under the
category of "spirit of ham radio."

Just my views.

73 to all, hope to see you in the "Fest",
Jay - AA8QQ

EA9CD

Duncan McMahon <zl3jt@...>

Well, There has been a lot of discussion about the methods used by Jose to confirm
QSOs! Most missed my point, after Ludek's message! I have received an eqsl card from
Jose, EA9CD for a 15M QSO we made on the 8th June 2001. I have his electronic card
in my archive!
In the course of uploading my unconfirmed QSOs to eqsl.cc, Jose received an electronic
qsl from me for a 20M QSO on the 6th August 2001 which was rejected by the man himself!

There is evidence that a bureau exists in EA9 but Jose does not want cards by this
method.
My complaint is that fact that I received a 'rejection' on the grounds that Jose
requests 'direct only', but when it suits him to have a ZL3 card for psk31, he sends
eqsl to me!
And then rejects my 20M one!
Maybe Jose does return the direct requests, but once again we all run the risk of
theft within the postal system.
If 'direct only' requests are required by this operator, then he should not be a
member of eqsl.cc!

I see your point. But the way it seems to be is that he does use eqsl to
exchange qsl's that are not digital.... It would help if he made it clearer
but
language difficulties add to the situation...

Hope to see you on the pskfest.....

Look up EA9CD's detailed information on QRZ ... you will find in his
details the following: QSL CARD ONLY VIA DIRECT IN MODE DIGITAL (NO
BUREAU)

And on his webpage at http://www.ea9cd.com/ ... "Confirmation of QSL
in ways digital single direct road SATSE (2 $, 1 IRC or 2 Euro) "

So he is quite clear about the qsl method for digital... I had a psk
qso with him on Aug 8, 01 and received his card Oct 5,
01.

I periodically upload my log to eqsl ... did not think to exclude this
qso and later noticed the rejection.

Tom -

I guess my thoughts are these:

1. Although the notes above say "direct only," the emphasis seems
to be NO BUREAU, as the parenthetical note says. Nothing in his
statement says NO EQSL.

2. The use of eQSL to reject an electronic QSL, simply because of
"policy" seems to me to be a misuse of eQSL resources. I could
understand it if he would simply ignore eQSLs, but to reject them
with the statement "direct only" violates the whole premise of the
eQSL service.
