RTTY Software
Steve W3HF
Okay, guys, here's an off-topic question:
What do you use for sound-card-based RTTY (if you use it)? This is triggered by the fact that KG4DX last week, and VP8THU today seem to be only on RTTY, and not PSK. I've been trying for a few days now to get MMTTY to work, and I don't seem to get it. I must be doing something wrong, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I'd like something as easy to use as Digipan. I've discussed this privately with one or two of you, but I'd like a few more opinions. Thanks. Steve W3HF

PSKFEST - great fun!
Charlie Trice, K8IJ <k8ij@...>
Hi folks,
Thanks to all for the PSKFEST - the QSOs, the
management and all the great fun.
My stats/comments:
Total QSOs = 196
Dupes = 7 (Was the dupe with Steve, N6YIH/7 a
test???)
States = 41
DX = 19
Ran 30 watts with a vertical.
1st highpoint: working KA3X and N3DQU back to
back.
2nd highpoint: finally snagging HI when Rick, KH7O
called me.
Worked all 4 PODXS fellas and worked WB5NHL, K0CIE
and VE3IAY each 3 times - thanks!
Worked only Ontario in VEland.
I still think RST is a waste of time. I'm
still not sure how it applies to PSK31 anyway. Exchanging names makes it
more personal, even in the hit and run environment of a contest.
Would I do it again? You bet!

Chas, K8IJ

Re: eQSL (was Digital DXCC)
Steve W3HF
FWIW, I am both registered and "Authenticity Guaranteed." AG
doesn't cost anything--you only have to email a scan of your license. But to be eligible for their awards (eDX100, etc) you do have to have made a financial contribution. Like most, I also prefer paper QSLs. I try to QSL all DX contacts, and will respond to anyone domestically who requests a card. (I also send directly, without request, a card to anyone who says it's their first PSK QSO.) But at least there is one award that does accept eQSLs, and that is PODXS's own DPX award. For that reason, I have started going through my log and submitting eQSLs for prefixes for which I don't have the paper version. 73, Steve W3HF

Digital DXCC
Duncan <zl3jt@...>
de Jungle Telegraph
I have 161 DX Entities worked on psk, and 78 confirmed to date. Erika...you can retrieve your eqsls without being a member... Go to the site www.eqsl.cc and follow the instructions. You will need to confirm your log entries in order to retrieve your card. You can then download the ones you want. Of Course the 'Committee' will not accept eqsls..(YET).. but they are less prone to 'cheating' than any other method of confirmation. The costs for QSLing rear the ugly heads, once again! But it does keep people employed....would be OK if all were returned.... 73s Duncan __________________________________________________ Advertise with ZFREE - to find out more click below http://www.zfree.co.nz/about-us/advert.html

I believe registering with eqsl is free. I am registered but not “authenticated” . I have not paid a dime so far. I enjoy receiving the eqsl’s but would rather have the “real thing”. I will probably get the authenticity guaranty some time in the near future and maybe upload my own card.

I was trying to get to the website to check this but it can't hit it at all. I'm adding up my scores for the PSKFEST and wonder if the US and Canada also count as multipliers for a US station. Anyone know? Joe

Re: Digital DXCC

Hi Duncan,
you can retrieve only three eqsl's without being registered. This amount I have already retrieved when I needed some cards for my membership in the 070 club. When you'll retrieve another card you'll get the message that you must register with them. In Germany the costs for the bureau qsl's are already covered with our membership-fee for the radio club, and since I prefer the oldfashioned cards I'll not register with the eqsl.cc. I can't help it, I love the real cards, for me they are about 50% of the fun of hamradio. A flimsy eqsl is no competition for a good card. 73's Erika

without trying very hard, and about 30 confirmed. I have #319 on CW/SSB and just don't have the drive (and postage) to go after a PSK DXCC until the ARRL starts accepting digital confirmations. Perhaps some day the award will come to me in the form of cards via the bureau. 73, Alan/K6SRZ

I hope you hear me not at the same time all over 20m, ha ha ha. Indeed I had some problems to tune the PA well for most output while less distortions. I believe you know the situation, when other stations came closer and closer from both sides. They don't hear you and you have to QSY. Your signal was also very pretty and strong here in soutwest Germany. cuagn and 73's de Dieter

it harms that we don't came together. At late afternoon (local) the first W came up, but with weak and very changefully signals. My experiences is this contest is, you need a very good antenna to use QRP successfully. I plan to mount a single LOOP for only 20 m if the weather permits it. It's no fun to work in the roof at temperatures down to -18C, hi. All parts are situated already here, including a simple rotor for tv antennas. Hope to finish it befor the Spring Rumble. hope to cu, 73's de Dieter
