Hello All,

I need some help identifying what type of signal I'm seeing every
night. It comes on at around 04:30z at about 14069Khz. and stays on
for about an hour, except last night it was there for over 3 hours.
It's 30 over 9 in Western Washington State.
I realize I can't post an attachment to the list, so if someone
would let me e-mail a screen shot of my waterfall to them and give me
a clue to what it is, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks & 73,
Bernie / KF4FHS

Yahoo Groups servers to go down

N3DQU@...

Dear Yahoo! Groups Members,

The Yahoo! Groups service will be down Friday March 15 9:00 PM PST (GMT-8) as we move our servers to a new facility. We expect the service to be back up the morning of Sunday March 17.

During this time the web site will be unavailable and email will not be delivered. (Some users may experience email non-delivery notices, but all email should be delivered once service has resumed.) Please note: once the service is back up, there will be email delays due to backlog. We expect these delays to last no longer than 1 day. Please do not re-send email to your group as it will only add to delays.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Hi all,

I was really surprised to find myself ranking top EU on Multi Band
QRP...
Being only EU station helped :-()

Anyway a nice surprise from a well organized contest !!!

Well over two weeks ago I sent $25 to eQSL to fund the "postage"
account since they claimed the ARRL would accept these cards. The
money was transferred with Paypal. After more than two weeks,
several e-mails, they said they would credit my "postage" account -
that was six days ago - still the account shows a $0 balance and it
is useless anyway since the cards are not acceptable for the award.
I have now sent a complaint to Paypal and if they money does not come
back to me as I have requested of eQSL, I will file a complaint with
the state AG.

People can say what they want about the ARRL, but at least the ARRL
has never ripped me off, have quickly responded to any request, and I
just as soon wait for the ARRL to implement a system then to have to
put up with a half ass operation that can't properly handle funds
that claims to do things they cannot.

Taiwan Prefixes

Steve W3HF

Now that it's long past the time for the Taiwan endorsement, along
comes the following announcement in 425 DX News #566:

-------------------

TAIWAN PREFIXES ---> It seems that the CTARL QSL bureau is
getting cards for Chinese stations. Tony Kuo, BX2AC (ex BV2TA)
reminds DXers that BM, BN, BO, BP, BQ, BU, BV, BW and BX
belong to Taiwan, while BA-BL, BR-BT, BY and BZ
belong to China.

-------------------

I figured I'd pass it along for reference, for the next time Jay picks
Taiwan for something special. Of course, that's when they'll all
disappear, but at least we'll know who it is that's disappearing.

Hey Costas, I bet if you got ole Merlin, er I mean Jay to come up with a SP
endorsment, it wouldn't only thin them out, it would shut them completly off
:-)

Bernie, one of my problems is that there are too many Polish hams active
in the
PSK-31 bands. Do you think I should propose a "Worked 5 SP prefixes"
sticker,
so that the bands calm down a bit for a while? <grin>

Hi All,
Many of you are wondering about N3DQU's "connections?" to the prop gods.
If
you've never been to his QTH, you don't know about the 4" crystal ball he
keeps hidden behind his rig. I first saw it when I happened by for an
unexpected visit. He didn't know it but I saw him through his window,
peering into it as if in a trance. Had he worn a hood, I would have
thought
I was watching Merlin the magician in action.

I watched as he ran his fingers around the orb. I could see letters
floating
around inside in what appeared to be clouds. They seemed to follow his
every
move. The letters DL kept floating to the top, over and over again. When
I
asked him about it, he said it was just a tool for checking propagation.
He
shook it up and handed it to me. It looked like an ordinary glass ball
with
snow falling on a winter scene. The only thing unusual was the house
inside
had a tower with a tribander on top. Two days later he came out with the
DL
endorsement. Maybe it was just a coincidence, and maybe it was just a
dream.
Either way, I'll never forget what I saw that day, through that window,
when
he didn't know I was there. I'll bet he takes a good long look into it
every
time he thinks up a new endorsement. I'll also bet he closes the curtain
now
too!

Well, what about it Jay? Any explanation?

Yes, but I was lucky with this one, I had managed to contact
23 germans before the curse took effect. After that I worked
slowly for the EA sticker and found the workings of Jays magic.
Today I researched the proper spell to cancel the curse,
I tried it on YO and it worked! 3 QSOs in half an hour! If
I have some time tomorrow, I shall try to reverse the JA
curse as well.

I'm glad he didn't put the same kybosh on the Lower 48 endorsment,
or he'd have the whole USA shut down.

Bernie, one of my problems is that there are too many Polish hams active
in the
PSK-31 bands. Do you think I should propose a "Worked 5 SP prefixes"
sticker,
so that the bands calm down a bit for a while? <grin>
