Date

TDW

Dieter, DL2RR <dl2rr@...>

Just again back from sunny HA-land and I'm assembling a new LOOP for the
TDW. For this purpose I had to dismount all my antennas. I hope to be ready
before Friday morning to get you on 80m/40m too.
Otherwise there will be no signal from Glems.
It makes no fun to sit on the roof or climb on trees like an (old) squirrel
in this cold wet rainy weather.

cul on TDW de Dieter - DL2RR

PS: Jay, tnx for the award which I found in the mail box.

Sean (G4UCJ) <g4ucj.shack@...>

Hi all, just to let you know that during the month of June, all UK amateurs are allowed to use a special prefix. For G stations, the prefix is GQ, for M's it is MQ and for 2's it is 2Q. There are no country locators so GM=GQ, GI=GQ, GW=GQ, G=GQ, GJ and GU=GQ. I will be active as often as possible on all bands from 80m to 6m primarily CW but will try to operate some PSK/RTTY (now my station is operational on those modes again). To my knowledge the GQ prefix has not been used, or if it has been, not for 25 years, so not on PSK for sure! Hope to work some of you in June!!

Hi Jay and Bernie,

Re: the "contest door" at K8IJ.  Ya see, we have a couple of cats.  They love to be in the shack.  And they love to walk on the keyboards.

So, in the interest of clean output on the air, and a desire to allow airflow to/from the shack, I built a wooden frame of 1x2s and then stapled screen on it.  This "door" is then wedged into place in the open doorway.  Any typos during the TDW will be solely mine, not due to cats loose on the keys.

I've been wanting to do this for some time, but just got around to it with the long weekend.  Y'all have fun this weekend.

Charlie, Maybe a multiplier per the number of cats you have. You have 2 so you would figure your score then figure in x2 for your cat multiplier.

Hi Steve,

I was wondering how you liked the GAP.  I have the Challenger model and put 3 very light nylon guys on it to keep it from wobbling all the time here in breezy Flawda.  I'm considering the Titan for another QTH and would like your report after you play with it a bit.

OK so I did leave out the easy stuff out like the log format.

I just did the hard part for the new folks so they could get
there score correct. Last time I had to tell a lot of contacts
to count the bonus for each band.

So far the gap is working well but lets see what it will do for the contest.  And per the GAP manual
"The TITAN ia designed to withstand substantial winds unguied"
Now this is a 25 foot tall antenna I just don't see it staying up very long at all with out a guy?? will maybe inside a building??

Good Luck and hope to work you all remember if you get 100 members you can apply for the LONP award.

Subject: Re: [070] Sample Log for the TDW 070 Contest

Hey Charlie,

Good idea, especially since "Multi-Ops" aren't allowed in the TDW :-)

Here is a sample log that N6YIH came up with, to give you an idea of how
to calculate your score for next weekend's whoop-di-doo. Hmmm....looking at
Steve's log here, seems like the old boy is not very confident abt getting
his signal into Europe to work Erika, even with that new Gap antenna his XYL
let him buy! Of course, Ludek has pretty good ears with that setup he has, so
that would account for the two contacts with OK1VSL. But how come he only
worked me on 160 and 6? I gess I must've burnt up my antoona tenner after
working him on the ends and had to drop out of the contest altogether
