Propagation seems better in last couple days, too. If guys can find signals they'll operate PS.

Kind of doing what's left of my job

All endorsements have been sent to checker as of today, BUT I am still unable to send them on to convert to stickers. There is a major glitch in software up at checker page. Whether anyone will ever get their applied for stickers is beyond me. When I try to approve for stickers all I get is "Software Error" and that stops me cold. We kind of knew something like this was going to happen in March, but it started in mid-February.

Hopefully, our hard working staff is working on resolving all the problems with the changeover of software from KJ4IZW.

Thanks for hanging there !

I'm seeing a ton of traffic right now with these calls on 20 meters.   Any idea what this is?

QRZ down ?

Jerry N9AVY

Yup , it was down here all morning and just came back about an hour ago. My guess is that they were doing maintenance/upgrades as the page looked a bit different. Also, since many people have self-quarantined themselves, might think a lot more than usual are tying up internet surfing , watching movies, etc. The internet , as cell networks, will slow down with heavy traffic.

Meanwhile, I ran out this morning to grab mail at P.O. Box and the only thing was April issue of QST. Back home and finally looked at last year or so of QSLs stacked here. So, I filed them somewhat alpha-numerically. Also mailed out about 15 to Buro. Siting home and not going much of anywhere is boring which means the last 20 years of "I'll get to it later" projects may actually get done !

St Patrick’s Day Contest – Heads Up! One week away...

stan W9SMR

The Ø7Ø Club St Patrick’s Day Contest is just 1 week away -

Saturday, March 21 - 0000 UTC (Friday, March 20 - 8:00 p.m. EDT )

to Saturday, March 21 – 2359 UTC (Saturday, March 21 – 6:59 p.m. EDT )

This is a 1 day, 24 Hour event – Friday evening and Saturday in US.

Work as many stations as possible in the allotted time using PSK31 mode only.

Work each station once per band. (Same station, same band, is a dupe!)

Open to all licensed radio amateurs. Using 160M thru 6M (No WARC Bands).

Maximum Power 50W regardless of Band

Exchange:
Callsign,  RST  and  State/Province/Country (SPC)    eg: “W9SMR  599  FL”

Call: “CQ 070 St Pat’s Contest”

BONUS POINTS: Spell “Erin Go Bragh” using the first letter in the call suffix. See Contest Rules for details.

For Rules and detailsClick Here:  St. Patrick's Rules

All entry logs
must be received within 1 week after the event ends.

A “St Patricks Day Uploader”  Link has been made available on the PODXS 070 Homepage.

With 6 bands to choose from, you can optimize your luck with propagation. It is helpful to post your intentions to QSY on the Reflector. Also, be sure to use PSKReporter and to Spot calls seen. Go ahead and Self-Spot! Let folks know you are listening. CALL CQ!!

With the added challenge of spelling “Erin Go Bragh”, your progress on the Work The World (WTW) Endorsement is enhanced. And new members will make great strides on the LONP!!

Let’s see if you are one of the Lucky Irish. Go for that Pot ‘O Gold!

CONGRATS - 366 Chasers – Leap Day

stan W9SMR

It was inspiring to see the widespread pursuit of the Leap Year Endorsement (February 29) and the chase for the 366 Award.

February 29th – Leap Day – only happens once every 4 years.  And there is a 070 Endorsement specifically for logging a QSO on Leap Day.  It was first offered in 2016 and 198 members had earned it prior to this year.  I am sure there are more log uploads coming, but as of Monday, March 9th, at least 21 additional members had uploaded for the Leap Year Endorsement.

Those grabbing the Leap Day Endorsement so far include:

K4VBM   Bob    #2727
K5KHK    Karl    #2645
K9HW     Harry  #1959
KA5VZG  Alan  #1509
KD2QAK  Bob  #2703
KD9ADB  Daniel #2699
KE5IRK    Geary  #1787
KF3AA    Robert  #124
KI7OIY    Rick     #2662
KJ7EP     Wayne  #2725
N3XL      Bill     #2722
N8TCP    Roger  #2693
W3SW    Andy #482
W4BZM  Mike #2653
WB4JJJ    Alan   #985

This date was also critical for the coveted 366 Award for making a QSO on all 366 calendar days, including Leap Day.

That one date was holding back 7 folks who needed ONLY February 29 to complete Leap Year and 366 Endorsements. Six of them have uploaded for the Gold Ring:

F8BFU      Thierry   #1543

K4ARE      Sonny     #2347

KE0GHU   Mike       #2415

SA7BXU    Torbjorn   #1699

WB8YXF    Richard    #2328

WM4B       Michael     #348

Only M5PLY, Ivor, #292 so far has not uploaded a log showing his QSO on 2/29. I hope he made it.

Now, of our 2,734 members, 51 have achieved 366.

To see what dates you need for 366, upload your full log and check the "Online Endorsement Checker". In the "In Progress" section, click on "Target" for the 360 category and a list of needed dates will show. If you have a problem seeing that, please just let me know.

These contests also give a big boost to the LONP chasers and other Endorsements like 88 Triple Play won by Bill, N3XL, #2722.  Good job!!

The next PODXS 070 Event is the St. Patrick's Day Contest starting Friday evening 8:00 p.m. EDT March 20 and running for 24 hours. This contest includes all bands 160M to 6M (no WARC) with a single power category less than 50 W. Spell "Erin Go Bragh" for bonus points. Check the website for details:  St. Patrick's Rules

PSK-31 Rocks!!

Dave -

I didn't say that. My words were "...the 2019 DX Specials would continue (until the end of 2019) but we would not add the 2020s right away". So the 2019 DX Specials expired on their announced date (31 Dec 2019) and the 2020 DX Specials will not be announced until the club has a new system for processing endorsements.
