Re: Club Log results

Ray Clements

The PSK reporter site shows similar results to ClubLog.

In the past 15 minutes, there have been 28 signals picked up for PSK out of a total of 4150. FT8 represented 3575 of the reports, FT4 represented 251, JS8 the derivation of FT8 represented 137, CW represented 25 reports.

Thus, it does not matter what system you use to look at it, PSK has limited  use under the current band conditions. As we move toward the peak of the solar cycle over the next five years, hopefully, things will get better.

Jerry,
Being intrinsically lazy, I wonder if an easier and less biased (NOT DEPENDING ON UPLOADS) activity chart might be obtainable from PSKReporter?

Hi All !

If more PSK31 operators submitted their logs to Club Log on a regular basis, it might show more activity on PSK31. The results shown were undoubtedly skewed because many of the SSB/CW/FT8 users submit logs on a regular basis.

I submit my logs about once every 6 months, but I think I should submit logs more often. People who read these results tend to think PSK31 is a dying or low activity mode which isn’t true.

Submitting logs to club log is free and only requires a few minutes of your time. Let’s pitch in and show the world that PSK31 is still a viable mode !

DOUBLEHEADER TRIPLE PLAY LOW BAND SPRINT-Heads Up

stan W9SMR

The Ø7Ø Club DOUBLEHEADER TRIPLE PLAY LOW BAND SPRINT is just 1 week away -

Saturday, December 14 - 0000 UTC (Friday, December 13 - 7:00 p.m. EST )

to Monday, December 16 - 0000 UTC (Sunday, December 15 - 7:00 p.m. EST )

This is a 3 day event – Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings in US.

Sprint Rules – Work a 6 hour block each UTC Date. For Scoring, your 6 hour block will start with the hour you select on the Scoring page and continue for the next 6 hours. You may have only one “Block” or “Block Portion” on a given UTC date.

Work each station once per band. (Same station, same band, different day is a dupe!)

Open to all licensed radio amateurs. Using 40M, 80M and 160M.

For Rules and detailsClick Here: DOUBLEHEADER RULES

Frequencies
: - 1.807 / 1.838 MHz (Europe). 3.580 MHz, 7.070 / 7.035 (Europe) Mhz

4 Power Categories
:

QRP < 5 W
Low < 25 W
Medium < 50 W
High < 100 W

Exchange:
Callsign,  RST  and  State/Province/Country (SPC)    eg: “W9SMR  599  FL”

Call: “CQ 070 Sprint”

All entry logs
must be uploaded within 1 week after the event ends.

(The on-line Scorer did not perform correctly for the Triple Play in November. Results were prepared manually by Rick, N7WE. Thank you, Rick!
Hopefully the on-line scoring will be correct for this contest.)

This event will again test your ingenuity and stealthy antenna talents. But with 3 bands to choose from, you can optimize your luck with propagation.

And it will again be worth pursuing, in order to grab that Top Band Endorsement Sticker with 20 QSOS on 160M. And 160M QSOs count as 3 points each. Only 43 of our 2,711 members have earned the Top Band Sticker.

Especially for help in grabbing a few 160M QSOs, it is helpful to post your intentions to QSY on the Reflector. Also, be sure to use PSKReporter and to Spot calls seen. We need all the help we can get.

This is one of our most popular contests. Last year, 37 logs were submitted. Matt, W5MMW, won Top Dawg honors and First Place in the 50W  category with a spectacular 90 QSOs.

Let’s see if we can beat that turnout.

Stan

Save the file to your computer hard drive, then COPY it to a thumb drive or some other secondary drive (that is not on the same computer).Do this every time you modify your file and you will always have a backup copy.

Thanks Rick !

Nthing special happened after making 950… didn’t hear any singing from on high… no fireworks … no parades.. nada !  😊

Many of those 950 came from working PODXS contests/sprints , chasing WTW over the years and working on other endorsements. Anyone can do it (or come close) given decent propagation and a resurgence of PSK31 activity (Boo, FT modes !).

LONP

Jerry N9AVY

Thought it was rough going to the last 50 and was beginning to have my doubts of ever going beyond that because of poor propagation.  Oh ye of little faith !   Put in an LONP upgrade a few minutes ago and bam !  I had 2 more new LONPs on the way to next plateau !!!

Hope this will be encouragement to others who feel like propagation is lousy and they can’t make contacts. Ya gotta get out there and rattle the KiloHertz by calling lots of “CQ’s”.  There are stations out there waiting to answer but they need to hear someone .   I think the old 10-10 Net motto applies here … “If you want to get results, you have to make calls !”.  (Just had to borrow that one.)

I usually make a few calls the first is usually a 2 x 3 CQ (cq cq cq de  n9avy n9avy and repeated again.  Longer calls are usually just double that to give others a chance to find me.) It seems to work sometimes. Try whatever works and don’t be afraid to change your CQs. Do whatever it takes to make contacts, but don’t offer money, hi !

Good luck and hope to see y’all on the air !

Welcome, indeed! So please that you decided to join us officially.

Participants in our recent Triple Play Low Band Sprint owe you a nod of appreciation. As the only non-member participating and submitting a log, you provided 16 much need QSOs to members.

And as you mentioned in our recent email exchange: " I found the PODXS contest to be most enjoyable — I was both surprised and pleased that the other chaps often wanted to chat for a moment rather than just giving me the basic exchange report and hurrying on their way to the next QSO."

This stands out as the reason we have the very best digital radio club in the world!!

Welcome aboard and we'll be looking for VA3TTB in the upcoming Doubleheader Triple Play Low Band Sprint on December 13 to 15.

ALERT - 366 Chasers - DECEMBER

stan W9SMR

ALERT - 366 Chasers - DECEMBER

Several 366 Award chasing folks need some QSOs on December dates coming up fast.

If you see these folks on the air, be sure to
give them a call and make their DAY.

Total days needed (#).

R6KEEYuri (2*) – 12/15

K4ARE, Lewis   (7) - 12/22, 12/23, 12/24, 12/25, 12/26, 12/27

S56IPS, Petelinc  (9) - 12/09, 12/12, 12/16, 12/19, 12/22, 12/27

Congrats to Steve, VA3TPS who completed his 366 on November 11.

Speaking of Leap Day, 6 members need only 2/29F8BFU, M5PLY, SA7BXU, WM4B, WB8YXF and KE0GHU. No doubt, lots of other folks need the infamous Leap Day, also!

Of our 2,711 members, only 44 have achieved 366.

To see what dates you need, upload your full log and check the "Online Endorsement Checker". In the "In Progress" section, click on "Target" for the 360 category and a list of needed dates will show. If you have a problem seeing that, please just let me know.

I have listed only the folks who are getting very close (within 20 dates). I am sure there are many more who need December dates, also. Even if you have worked a fellow member before, please answer that CQ. Let’s make 366 happen for as many as you can.

(*) Yuri may have gotten his needed QSO of November 26, but not uploaded his log yet.
