Stan,

I have contacted Jim, K5SP, and have volunteered my time to help with the site.

I work as a software engineer and can definitely provide some assistance with the server side of things as I primarily deal with databases and web applications.

Hopefully, we can get a team together to help distribute some of the work load.

Scripting - Joomla/Python/Perl/PHP or other scripting skills - we need to replace the endorsement checker, replace all the membership tools, and integrate the member info on the website (currently the data that is on hamclubs.info<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fhamclubs.info%2F&data=02%7C01%7C%7C808c9f6cb76a4758978208d7f2b7acf1%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637244742995508581&sdata=dwZu1gyKa0eXp99SmpQRxV%2BcpO%2FZOAOIdZs6gF0mXiM%3D&reserved=0>, for example). Anyone with experience at running a cgi backend alongside our Joomla website.

Database - MySQL database skills including interfacing with Joomla in order that we might have direct access to member data within our main page.

The objective is to divorce ourselves from Google docs, and create an actual database that stores all the data that is currently in the various tabs of the membership spreadsheet tabs.

Website - Reconfigure website, develop software to complete all tasks currently performed on hamclubs.info<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fhamclubs.info%2F&data=02%7C01%7C%7C808c9f6cb76a4758978208d7f2b7acf1%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637244742995518561&sdata=sDnG%2BPLr55wJ%2FY1YgDaR3fR7updy%2Fwf7J7HkjizVdcU%3D&reserved=0>. to do everything on our own website.

Software - For new member applications, create form, develop software to process the new member input data. Allow member to upload log, develop software to parse log and ensure 50 unique contacts, verify one member or upload QSL card, send email to membership for processing.

Step Up - If you can spare any time to help in these tasks, your fellow members will be deeply grateful. It does not need to be a long term or endless obligation. It will be tailored to your situation.

During this slowdown – Work for 24/7 Award

stan W9SMR

What better time to stay up all night in QSO with fellow PSK-31 fans. Grab that 24/7 Endorsement while you have some spare time.

What is it? Just make a QSO with anyone on PSK-31 every hour of every day. That is 24 hours times 7 days or 168 QSO’s.  Pretty simple formula, but not that easy to do!

There are actually 3 Endorsement levels available. The first is 72 hours. The second is 120 hours and the final level is 168 hours, all 7 days.

How many have done this? Just 33 folks have grabbed the full 168 level. Here is a short list of folks needing the least QSO’s. If you have not uploaded recently, your call may not appear on this summary.

To see your standing for the 24/7 Endorsement, just upload your log and go to your results page. Click on your call after the upload and then click on the “Target” for "24X7 (168)" on the center
“In Progress” section, to see exactly which hours and days of the week you need to complete. Times are in UTC.  Upload your log here:  Endorsement Checker Upload

If you get the itch to pursue the 24/7 Award, your best tool will be to post your intended operation on the 070 Reflector including your call and planned band(s) and time window. Then beg for help!

Another outstanding opportunity to make good progress on the 24/7 Award will be during the Three Day Weekend TDW coming up on May 29. This is a continuous 72 hour contest and folks will be encouraged to grab as many QSOs as possible during the wee hours of the night.

See Three Day Weekend (TDW) RulesTDW Rules

And if you grabbed the QSO on Leap Day and are closing in on your 366 Award, you can also grab the Clock and Calendar Award if you get the 24/7 Award.

Good luck chasing these tough Endorsements! And take an afternoon nap before your long night!

Stan

Great suggestions.

Let's see if we get some member level interest from this plea. Then we'll have the Exec, Jim, K5SP coordinate outreach to these other pools of talent.

Keep the good ideas flowing. We're gunna' need 'em!

Stan,
I've seen this request before and doesn't look too promising from our group so maybe we need to try outside our group. We have conversations everyday with stations and some of them mention that they are a retired software engineer or a web developer or have some skill in the needed areas. These are good candidates to ask if they can help us. Maybe after a qso you look at the station's qrz page and see they have experience in these areas. A friendly email thanking them for the nice qso and maybe a "By the way .......". Might get lucky and find a volunteer. Not sure if ARRL, QRZ.Com or Eqsl could help us but they could put a blurb on their website or even send out a few emails.
These may be crazy ideas but we need to get creative.
