to the scripts that drive the membership
lists. And these scripts (I believe) were
among the first to "fail" when Google
deprecated the API that was being used. (I'm not a
programmer, but that sounded pretty good,
didn't it?)
I'm
not sure I said it correctly, but here's a
layman's description:
A lot (if not all) of the club's records
were/are kept in Google Sheets. These
records were updated using scripts written
using a Google-defined Application
Programming Interface (API). Google
announced late in 2019 that they would be
modifying the API for Google Sheets, and
that meant that certain features of the
scripting language would be changing. No one
really knew how many of the scripts would be
affected, and we've seen some (but not all)
of the features fail since the date of the
change. One of the largest was that the
automated membership routines stopped
working. An alternate method was created to
accept member applications, but it is not
updating certain member files. Some of the
artifacts of that are the list of members
within the LONP section of the web
site--that ends at 2786 even though we are
up to 2813 now. One of the consequences of
this (we believe) is that the LONP checker
is not using the current member list. So no
one is getting credit for members above
#2786, and members who themselves joined
after 2786 get no credit at all (since the
database being used doesn't even show them
as members).
So in your particular case, I'll guess
that 14 of the member contacts you have in
your 1558 total are with members above 2786.
(That's comparable to what I have, too.) But
since the checker doesn't know about these
new members, you don't get the credit. Until
we get the code re-written, processing a
LONP application will have to include a
manual process to credit members above 2786.
This doesn't explain, though, why your
LONP 1500 keeps showing up. That's probably
another defect in the code somewhere.

I gotta say, I’m noticing a definite advantage in hearing and working stations now that we’ve moved to SW Missouri. I used to get on the air several times a week when we lived in SoCal and couldn’t beg, borrow, or steal a PSK contact, even with much CQing. Admittedly the solar cycle had bottomed out, but it wasn’t a good place to try to operate PSK31 from at the time.
That’s a great part of all the reason I got involved in the FT modes. Their ability to pull signals out from way down in the mud kept me operating, especially as I lived in a townhouse with CC&R’s to deal with. Glad to be back operating PSK again! -- All the best, Ken N6PCD/0 070 #801 LONP #187

John, KC3FL wins 2020 RC3 Series Award
stan W9SMR
The results are in for the 2020 Rollo Cup Contest Championship Series annual competition, and John, KC3FL has blazed a torrid track to the top of the pile. John seemed to be on every band simultaneously and beating everyone to the punch. Coming from behind Lee, N5SLY by 16 points out of 790 after the Great Pumpkin 160M Sprint, John took a 6 point lead in the Triple Play Low Band Sprint and completed the challenge in the Doubleheader Low Band Sprint with a 28 point lead with 1,034 points. As close to neck-and-neck as one can imagine.
Ever the gentleman, Lee, N5SLY congratulated John minutes after the results were announced. Lee won the 2019 RC3 by a resounding 228 points. The most compelling reason for the final result in 2020 may be that Lee did not operate on 160M for any of these contests. Will that situation change in 2021? 1st place RC3 receives a special certificate, a Rollo Dog Tag, and a silver Revere Cup trophy. 2nd and 3rd places receive a special certificate and a Rollo Dog Tag, and 4th – 10th places receive certificates. Congrats to all competitors and I cannot wait to see how we all do in 2021!
