Paula-
As I recall, back in Feb of 2019 you were the portable in DM24 and enjoying the pile-ups!  You may not have been a grid chaser, but in that instance you were definitely a "Chasee!"  And I do believe you reported having fun.

Paula,

Grid chasing is fun!!

And the 070 club members provide these rare opportunities to finish off a state and roll up the numbers like no other group!

I'm sitting at 329 Grids (of 488) and 23 States completed. A long way to go yet.

Have fun!!

I’m not saying I’m not going to do it. I’m just saying it needs to be part of a bigger effort or some other reason to travel to that part of the state, as it’s either an overnight trip, or else it’s a really long day consisting of mostly driving and a little radio.

It’ll be a distance of just about 100 mies/160km. It’ll make for an interesting day, for sure.

It’ll be nice to get some contacts on 30 tho. My OCFD is a horrible performer on 30m so the chance to work that band is a treat.

If the site doesn’t work out plan B is to just drive around until I find a place to set up.

Current plan is to wrap things up around 6/23 0130Z.

I will start on 20m.  Other bands as conditions permit.  I should be in cell coverage and I’ll be looking at pskreporter, etc. to try to judge what seems promising.

Barry, when I at home, I am lucky if I can see your signals on 20m, I think they just go right over my head.  Up in Granite Falls the distance will not be much more favorable, so we may need to get adaptable and creative to make it happen.  That will be fun, I am looking forward to that challenge!

Peter,

That is what we will do for future certificate mailings, except for the contest Top Dawg, and new member packets.
For just the reason you speak of, high postage costs.  The mailing of the backlog of certificates just completed was almost 400.00 in postage.

We do have a mailing in progress of our semiannual sticker endorsement items.  Look for it soon.  We will be doing semi-annual mailings of these items in the future.

Might I suggest for the next mailing that you make a PDF file from your certificate software and e-mail it. I can print my own paper copy from the PDF file if I want to display the award.  Most other organizations have moved to that delivery method to save paper and mailing costs.
Just a thought.

Certificates

Peter, NN9K #2629

First of all thanks for the certificate mailing.
Might I suggest for the next mailing that you make a PDF file from your certificate software and e-mail it. I can print my own paper copy from the PDF file if I want to display the award.  Most other organizations have moved to that delivery method to save paper and mailing costs.
Just a thought.

It’ll be a distance of just about 100 mies/160km. It’ll make for an interesting day, for sure.

It’ll be nice to get some contacts on 30 tho. My OCFD is a horrible performer on 30m so the chance to work that band is a treat.

Re: Contacts today

I guess I did not pay attention to the e-mail about Daze, but did get on and worked YV4YY, KG5OIB, and KD9DVB on 17.  Worked KO4DTT, a new ham, and NN9K on 30.  No luck on 12 called a bit, but no response.

We had thunderstorms this morning, and I was unable to get on the air.   I'll run down to 17 meters if anyone wants a few more contacts today.    Wish I could do 12, but this antenna just won't tune to it.
