Re: Grid-pedition????

Hi Rick,

We are still looking at heading for the TX coast in December if there is not much hurricane damage.  Will be hitting a couple of grids needed by members I think.  Heading North after Thanksgiving, but not going to be in DE for any length of time.  Looks like next year if things get better for a couple of long trips.  The pilot, Kathy, is getting tired of being home, although we just spent two weeks on the beach in SC.

This event will test your ingenuity and stealthy antenna talents in order to put up an antenna that will send your signals into the ether. It is not impossible. Check your HOA rules for loop-holes.

And it will be worth it in order to grab that Top Band Endorsement Sticker with 20 QSO’s on 160M.
Only 44 of our 2,794  members have earned this one. (I still need 7 QSO’s)

Last year, only 10 logs were submitted. That’s down from 12 in 2018. This is an excellent opportunity to steal the show!!  Let’s see if we can beat that turnout.

73, See you on 160 M

Stan,
Missed this one.  If you do it again, let me know.  I can load my 135ft end fed to about 20 watts on 160M through my MFJ-939 before I end up in a common mode nightmare, so I would be willing to give it a shot.  Not sure how much i am getting out to ERP, but heck it's PSK so it's supposed to be low power, right.

Looking for antenna check prior to the Great Pumpkin 160M Sprint.

Put up a jury-rigged Inv-L for 40M, 80M and 160M today. Runs from maple tree thru flag pole to 35 ft telescoping fiberglass mast to bird house pole. Quite a kluge.

I will be calling on 1,809 MHz for half hour or so. Still need 7 QSOs for my Top Band 20 Endorsement.

Your help appreciated.

Just as I was ready to give up on 160M and my Kluge Inv-L, Randy W4RTT, in KY called with a 30dB 599 and we chatted.

I guess the Inv-l will do for the Great Pumpkin 160M Sprint, after all. Thanks Randy!!

I'm QRT for now...will be looking for 0400 and 0500 QSOs with the 24/7 Endorsement chase in a couple hours.

Hope to work you in the Great Pumpkin 160M Sprint Saturday eve.

Sure understand that Eric.  The pandemic has put a lot of things on hold.  Sure hope you and yours are OK with all the fires out there in CA.  Stay safe, stay healthy, there will always be time for DM17 in the future...and I'll be looking for you when it happens!  73,

Rick,

I was to be in DM17 this month but the pandemic put the brakes on that.  I am still planning on doing that, I just don't know exactly when yet

24/7 Endorsement assisted by Chat

Alan - KA5VZG

First, thanks to Bob, KK6KMU and Stan, W9SMR for implementing the Chat with this 24/7 endeavor.

Those who aren't sure how  to use Chat:
1. https://groups.io/groups
2. select: 070club/main   that gets you to the main groups.io page for 070/main
3. on the left, select: Chats  that gets you a drop down list of Chats that are available on the 070/main page
4. select: 24/7 Endorsement  that opens the Chat for 24/7 Endorsement
5. at the bottom, select:  join  that lets you type in the box/line at the bottom and Send it to the Chat group

then you can chat with the endorsement folks online and see who is where and what freq may be best

This has been very helpful. I have yet to see Stan,W9SMR, and I usually can work him easily.  Stan has also seen and worked Canadian stations that none of the rest of us have seen.
I could not see Bob, K4VBM on 40m but have worked him on 80m, and directed him to 40m via Chat to see if he could work others.
I can see/work Bob, KK6KMU only on 40m, but he can also work Stan.
Bottom line, the Chat is really nice. Otherwise you might think you were alone out there.

The plan is still to work the 04 and 05 hour slots through Oct 11. (0445-0515Z)  If any missed the start and would need a repeat on the Monday 04/05 slots, I can do it again on Oct 12.
Oct 12 through Oct 18 will cover hours 06 and 07. (0645-0715Z)  If we're still alive, the Oct 19 through Oct 25 will cover the 08 and 09 slots.(0845-0915Z)

Join the fray, it goes pretty quick.

Worked Alan KA5VZG and saw Stan W9SMR but no decode on Stan.  I will try again tonight and I will be more patient.  Band conditions from my end looked poor.
Thanks for using the chat Stan and John.  For everyone else interested the chat title is 24/7 Endorsement.

Thanks,
Bob KK6KMU

Gave you a try at 04:50 and got  KA5VZG and got two different hours from him. Got 04 and 05 from him.  Didn't see any any other stations on the band

PODXS Member Don,  KB9UMT, 070 #1227,  father of the 30MDG, posts that a chance to gather on 30M every Sunday evening will happen again tonite. (See below.)

Time to check out an often overlooked band with fantastic possibilities! You do not need to be a member of 30MDG to join in.

Do you have your 30/30 Endorsement yet. It only takes 30 QSO'S on 30M to put it in your Trophy case!

I will be calling. How about a QSO?
