Looking for North Dakota

Mike W4BZM

Do we have any PODXS members in North Dakota?
I'm almost to my WAS 40 meter digital endorsement, and I'd rather get ND as a PSK-31 contact than an FT8 entry -- but I never seem to hear a ND station.

Mike W4BZM

24/7 Endorsement - WEEK TWO starts Monday 10/12 for hour slots 0600Z and 0700Z

Alan - KA5VZG

Week one had plenty of activity on 7.070 and 3.580 MHZ.  20m was checked, but no activity was observed, so we mainly stuck to 40m and 80m.
Using the Chat (24/7 Endorsement) that Bob/KK6KMU set up made things go quickly and easily. (check an earlier post abt 24/7 for instructions)

Week two, from Monday 10/12 - Sunday 10/18, starts tonight.  This week will cover the 0600Z and 0700Z hour slots.
Look at the Chat to see who is active.  To work both hours with limited sleep loss, we will concentrate on 0645Z - 0715Z.  From 0645-0659 QSO's will fill in the 0600Z slot. From 0700-0715Z the 0700 slot will be taken care of.  (a few earlybirds may be on by 0630)

On Monday 10/12, I will also check 80m and 40m to see if anyone needs 0400Z or 0500Z time slots and may have missed the opportunity on the first run.

WEEK TWO 24/7 endorsement hour slots 0600Z and 0700Z are our targets, pse join in :-)

In spite of the lousy propagation conditions recently, we are showing some good gains in member Endorsements. Having several contests has helped also.

LONP - To qualify for LONP, 100 QSOs with fellow members are required. As you are aware, we are struggling with issues on the Endorsement web page that limits our timely approval of Endorsements. Be sure to upload your entire log each time.

Jerry, N9AVY, has been fighting an uphill battle with our balky Endorsement Checker trying to validate and approve candidates for LONP. Here is a most recent list of those who have submitted logbooks containing 100 or more QSOs since January 1, 2020.

Note that these are not yet officially approved:

#2618 KD6TR 180
#2722 N3XL 111
#2727 K4VBM 102
#985 WB4JJJ 102
#577 K6WRJ 118
#2692 YV4YY 100

We also have an excited pack of LONP Seekers in hot pursuit of this traditional first rights award. If you see them, give them a call and spot them on PSKReporter and our reflector:

#2741 WA4RXK 98
#2658 VE3RXO 84
#2703 KD2QAK 73
#471 LW2EIY 61
#2691 K5RWG* 60
#1341 EA3ATJ 59
#2781 WA3LXD 59

*Rich, K5RWG joined 5/31/19. After our QSO on Sept. 23 he agreed to make his first Endorsement Checker upload. Along with his 60 QSOs toward LONP, Rich earned 7 other Endorsements. That included his Ragchewers 3/30. He’s a natural at that skill.

And in close pursuit of the next major Honor Roll level at 500 QSOs are:

#138 W7PSK 496
#2566 KC3EL 474
#1609 KC4OBB 446

And then there are the Super Achievers with more than 1,000 member QSOs:

1 #0025 W3HF 1650
2 #0777 NO8R 1537
3 #0815 K8TOM 1258
4 #0454 N9AVY 1017

Congratulations to all!

Many more Endorsements were earned, far too many to list. But we applaud the continuing efforts of all to reach for the sky!!

Keep up the good work!

Upcoming 070 Contest: Check your HOA rules for loopholes and string out that long-long-wire!

Tried on 30M and 20M, but shockingly (HiHi) atmospherics are atrocious on both bands from the edge of the Hurricane here in Houston.  Maybe tomorrow?

That is an awesome scheme Paul!  Something that I'll bet has never been done.  One of my dreams was to work PSK31 from all 50 states.  Didn't even get close.  Last count was 27 and "that's all folks."  Can't wait for you to get started.  How many do you have so far?  I've worked you in CN97 and CN98, so you can't have more than 13 left!

I’d really like to mount a project where I tag every grid in WA state.  The big problem is that I need to steal the time from other things to do that.

But I have not given up on this yet.  I am still scheming.

Any grid-peditions being planned?  Paul - W7PFB had mentioned after his very successful CN89 pedition that he was considering several more.  Dick - KC3EF recently posted that they have had to cancel their normal fall west coast swing, but were planning some POTA activations for Florida.  Haven't heard anything from Dave - KB3RAN since his APE adventure.  Stan - W9SWR and Bob - KC9UR had a great APE from EN71.  Are they planning anything before next August?  There were several others talking about getting out and about, but I can't remember them all.  So is anyone planning on going portable now that Fall is here?  Lots of rare grids for those close to CA, NV, and UT - to mention just a few.  All these questions from he-who-is-stuck-at-home.

Hi Rick,

We are still looking at heading for the TX coast in December if there is not much hurricane damage.  Will be hitting a couple of grids needed by members I think.  Heading North after Thanksgiving, but not going to be in DE for any length of time.  Looks like next year if things get better for a couple of long trips.  The pilot, Kathy, is getting tired of being home, although we just spent two weeks on the beach in SC.
