Dick-
I appreciate the consideration.  Unfortunately, Tuesday I have a 9:30 AM (1430 UTC) appointment at UFHealth-Shands in Gainseville.  Hopefully no more than an hour to 90 minutes.  I will hurry home as fast as I can, but certainly don't wait on me.  When you go to Shands, sometimes 60 minutes turns into all day.  It will be what it will be.

We will be stopping in EL59 on Tuesday March 2nd starting not before 1030 CST or 1130 EST or 1630 GMT depending on how you like to tell time. I believe N9AVY and N7WE both need this grid, so I will start by calling them around 14.072.  If anyone else needs this grid or just wants to say hi, feel free to join in.  If not much activity we will start heading back to FL.

Re: KC9UR POTA Effort Today

Bob KC9UR

Hi Don,
I use an 18ft fiberglass pole and attach a 17ft wire at the top, running down the pole to 4 10ft radials on the ground at the bottom.  The pole is slid over the handle of a screwdriver that is pushed into the ground.  In the picture the pole was leaning because the ground was soft/muddy, and the wind pushed it over.  I also use a QRPGuys Tri-Band Vertical matching unit at the base, which can resonate the 17ft vertical on 20m, 30m, and 40m (switch selectable).  It's not the most efficient antenna, but it seems to work well, and is easy and quick to set up.  I also sometimes use the pole to support the center of a 40m EFHW inverted V antenna for targeting closer-in contacts.  It's resonant on 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m.

Have a great day!

Bob, KC9UR

Re: Prop is improving!

Rick,

I got him Feb 6th.  It was about 6:30 P.M. local and the waterfall was empty and boom, there he was a solid 599.  I'm surprised you got him that early in the day.  Most of my Hi contacts are around 22:00 and 23:00 z.  Suke is on the waterfall right now at S/N 29 dB, so definitely looking up.

Thanks to all the POTA hunters who worked me today and to those who spotted me and generated enthusiasm.  It was great to work you and to get outside and play radio in balmy weather (mid 40s) after being cooped up inside during a colder and snowier than usual February in Indiana.
