I think a little discussion on this (as opposed to just a poll) might be interesting.
For psk and other HF digital modes I have used:
1. TenTec Eagle 599AT
2. Elecraft KX3 and KXPA100
3. Icom

We did have new member contests at various 100-member boundaries, but "The Great Race" was the last (at least for a long while). IIRC, the rules were set up that the contest would continue until

Back in the day, when I was Contest Manager, and did all of the contest logs by hand, we had "New Member Jamboree's" every 100 new members.
