Re: Antennas for 160m
Barry:
Thought about taking out a chunk of the tree just below the antenna and then gluing it back together, but problem was how to hold up top of tree while sawing of a few feet.

Jerry
Easiest way to lower the height is with a chainsaw.
Bonus is wood for the winter.
Hope to see you on the doubleheader

Hi John,
I too would like the article about the 40, 80 and 160 meter end fed antenna. 160 meters ought to be interesting.

John,
I'd like to get the article on the end fed. I've never worked 160 and don't have much experience with 80 either. I might be able to get some wire in the air before the next leg of the low band

Re: Antennas for 160m
160m antenna here is an Alpha-Delta DX-A which worked pretty well until I raised one end into tree and tree grew. It messed up the angle and now is non-resonant on 160m. Just need to get at tree and

Jerry, Lot's of information on 160m antenna's.
What do you run on 160m?

My beverage is short at only 150 ft and it works great on 160 and 80. I've even used it on 40 and 30 mtrs. I used something like a 470 ohm terminating resistor but I got tired of changing out the

Antennas for 160m
The setup that many use is a vertical on 160m with a beverage antenna for receive.
The beverage antenna doesn't have to be very high... just run it along a fence or even lower. A friend's lot borders

Re: RESULTS - TRIPLE PLAY LOW BAND SPRINT - 2020
Please add me in too John. I had a very, very poor temp setup that I can no longer setup and take down. Sure would like to get something up for 160 that WORKS and I could leave up! Thanks!

Re: RESULTS - TRIPLE PLAY LOW BAND SPRINT - 2020
Lee,
I think you're right that it will depend on multipliers. I got lucky the last night when Venezuela, Panama, Puerto Rico and of all things England popped up. I had such a poor showing in the 160

Lee,
I live in an HOA with fairly tight rules. but I have two neighbors who do not complain to the HOA if I erect a temporary Inverted-L running running 22 or 24 gauge hookup wires thru their palm

Re: RESULTS - TRIPLE PLAY LOW BAND SPRINT - 2020
I can't do 160 meters...no antenna. I don't use an amp. 100 watts is all I need. Much more important is a good antenna in my opinion. I think the winner will be the one who gets the most

Lee,
I love it!
John made a hellava push on this one.
It will be tilly-bar-the-door on the Doubleheader.
Will you be able to get on 160M in this critical test? Could it make the difference?
