Re: Observation

In a reference to the way Jeremy explained how to use K and KN, this is an excerpt from M0JCQ's Ham Blog.

  • K = Over
  • KN = Over (and only the station addressed should respond)

Jeremy did it the right way.  I must have read that somewhere years ago because I setup my macros the same way.

Monday night: How to find and hold a PSK conversation #chat

Don - KM4UDX

Last month, our own Stan R. gave a wonderful presentation to a digital workgroup covering our club and all our wonderful activities.

As a follow up, I'm inviting any club members who want to talk about how to find and have actual conversations using PSK on radio.  The goal is to have some fun and help new folks understand the art of PSK conversation.

We start at 9:00pm ET on zoom

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84541512980?pwd=YW9KUHFUSkRiSGhOY29VaTA1MzJ3UT09

And we camp on 7.071+2k where we play with and demo non-FT8 modes.

365/366 Need Dates

stan W9SMR

It is great to see enthusiasm mounting to grab that 365/366 Endorsement. The new 365 Chat that KB3RAN set up should be a big help in coordinating.

Follow this link: Sign up 365 Chat

Even if you have worked a fellow member before, please answer that CQ 365 call. Let’s make 366 happen for as many as we can.

To see what dates you need, upload your full log and check the "Online Endorsement Checker". In the "In Progress" section, click on "Target" for the 360 category and a list of needed dates will show. If you have a problem seeing that, please just let me know.

In the table below I have shown June and July need dates for only those members needing fewer than 46 days total. These are the folks really getting close. Be sure to look for them. Use the 365 Chat to announce your own needs and hopefully you will punch through and grab those needed dates. As a bonus, focus on the WARC bands if you also want credit for those Endorsements.

I will publish this table periodically as the time approaches. Best of luck and good Propagation to boot!

What I don't understand is the 3 K's.. does that signify that they are Klan members ?    No need for extra K's  unless they are trying to fill up space or is it an affectation ?

Bewildering ...

All,

Great ideas and thanks for the chat and the CQ 365.  I will be starting on Monday June 14 on 20 Meters at 2000 UTC for an hour or so.  I will try to be on every day every though I don't need every day thru Sept.  I'm sure family will take priority more than a few times.

Thanks,
Bob

The only way I found was to mouse-click the arrow. I found that frustrating--the enter key would be much easier and more intutive.

I'd love to find a non-mouse solution.

I like the idea of making our CQ call to wrap up the 366 as CQ 366.
I am down to seven dates and if all goes well and my station behaves and the wife keeps the weed eater away from my vertical, I'll make it this year.
I only need:
June 24, 29, 30
July 2, 11, 15, 18
I got the Leap Year last year, whew!  HI HI
When my back pain allows, I'm trying to be on the air more to help others too.
I most get on the air in the range of 9:00 a.m. to noon CDST, I'm in SW OKLAhoma.
Next, figuring out the times I need for the hour endorsement thingy.  HI HI
73 and good luck to all working on completing endorsements in 2021!

Here's an idea when you're trying to get that needed contact for 365 Endorsement.  Call "CQ 365" and when a member sees that you have a better chance to make a contact even if the other station had a contact with you the day before.

Re: 365 Endorsement - Stories?

We would usually take a road trip in Sept or Oct but for some reason didn't take one in 2019 so I got those last few days needed for 365/366.  Then came the pandemic so didn't go anywhere so did 365 again in a single year.  Just for laughs, I went thru my log and found the last day I didn't have a PSK contact was 5/15/19.  Too bad there isn't a  730/731 endorsement.  hihi  Looking forward to see those CQ-365 calls this year.

Dave,
I will be using that chat, combined with email to try and stir up 30 meter activity - 30 on 30 is still needing about 10 more QSOs.

We can use this chat to set up skeds for WARC contacts and report band openings and such.  This has not been at the top of my list since I didn't have the right antenna.  But fortunes changed and my G5RV Jr likes the bands and I will be trying harder to get this endorsement this summer.

Re: 365 Endorsement - Stories?

Paula K7PAX #1739

Yep, Rick is right - I used Teamviewer and a tablet to operate my rig remotely and was able to finish some days from work, and some days while on vacation. And I also used the strategy of working the time before and after 00:00z to get two dates in a short period. I started in a leap year, so that gave me an advantage, but didn’t get a clean sweep as some members were able to do. However, I didn’t miss many, and was able to pick the missing dates up the second year, to complete not only 365 but also Clock & Calendar, as I had completed my 24/7 by then as well. That one was more challenging than the 365 in my opinion. Having a buddy helps, one who is willing to schedule times in the wee hours to make those 3:00 am contacts that seem the hardest to get. It would have been hard to finish any other way. Good luck everyone!

Completing 365 can take a bit of ingenuity - particularly when circumstances take you away from the shack.  We were traveling to family for Christmas and I ended up making my 12/24 QSO portable from a hotel parking lot.  If memory serves, Paula - K7PAX used TeamViewer to operate remote so she could complete some days.  And Steve - W3HF operated from a club station a long, long way from home so as not to miss any day.  All part of the challenge and the fun of 365.

I'm sure there are some great stories out there!  Consider posting yours here to encourage others. And answer those "CQ - 365" calls.  You can't do 365 all by yourself!
