Barry,

It sounds like you had more important things to attend to.  I hope all is well and comfortable for you now.

We are still digging out from record snowfall here. We don't see 16 inches of snow accumulation very often-thank heavens.  Warmth and some rains this afternoon are starting to help out.

Sorry not to get back to you sooner, but we had guests for lunch/afternoon.  In the meantime I see that Matt has addressed your issue in his note.  Good luck, hope it all sorts out.

Rick - If the Sprint can be activated, is there a reason the 10-10 QSO Parties cannot be activated??

Thanks

Sorry Guys  . . . it is raining here in the desert, not to mention that it is Valentine’s Day and my 25th wedding anniversary. By the time I got set up in the rain this morning, 40 meters had already closed. So no Sprint for me this year.

Tom:

Just shut down station …made a handful of contacts when I started at 9 PM CST on 80m…   never saw anything on 40m.  For some reason my SWR on 80 went sky high, probably a loose connection with all the weird weather lately ...today it was 18 F  & tomorrow’s predicted/guessed high in low 40 F’s .

We need to build a time machine and go back to better propagation days  😊

Nothing seen on the NW left coast 40M or 80M @ 04:15Z.  I guess everyone's gone to bed. Maybe Barry has done a better job of monitoring the bands.

Just realized it was today.  Worked all day and more of that tomorrow.  This is usually my slow time of the year, hah !

Just got on 80m and made 3 contacts – all 070 members .  KB8JNU, WS8G, and K4ARE – all in log !

Well, I have had lots to do since I got here, but I have made 31 contacts on 20 and 40 meters. Ten of those were DX.  I made 7 contacts on PSK31 – 20m the first day, including FL, NC, CT, CA, WA and Japan. The second day I worked Geary in Oklahoma. Haven’t had any luck on 40m PSK31, but have worked quite a bit of FT8 on both 20 and 40, including many states in the US, one contact in Alberta Canada, several in Japan, and two in South Korea. I often see Indonesia and sometimes Australia in the early morning on 40, but they can’t hear me. I saw quite a bit of Central and South America tonight, but again, they couldn’t hear me.

But I’m happy having worked a couple of S Korea, and hope to have better success with more seat time. I see lots of interesting signals, so something has got to give, right?

And yes, I will be here on Valentine’s Day, but it is also my 25th wedding anniversary, so I don’t know how much time I can give to radio that day  . . . we’ll see!

Paula-
How about an update?  How is the portable op going?  Were you able to get on 40m and have any luck?  Could you make it into the Pacific on either band?  Any DX into Europe or South America?  I think you initially said you would be there for a month.  Does that mean you will be on from there for the Valentine Sprint?  Sure could use a YL contact from Lake Havasu City! 73,
