Hey, from the number of emails it looks like the sprint is a swell idea!

I'm going to fire this thing up on 40m tonight and see if I can get
some PSK into the ether about 2100 hrs EDT for a while.
Anyone else interested? If you're going to get some old coax
hooked up to that "zig-zag periodic" antenna that you've not used
on 40m for a while, tonight might be a nice test run.

Great to have the discussions going. it's about the only time I get emails
that are not trying to sell me something!!!
I will make an attempt at 40 meters with a Hustler mobile antenna, or my
totally out of tune MFJ-xxx vertical!

So, look for XM4XA on 40 ..will be interesting as I have not done anything
on 40 for 25 years!!

My operating will be totally dependant upon the weather as we have had
several days of major lightening storms, including another 2 1/2 inches of
rain (63mm) again last night in about two hours. The price we pay for
living in the mostly frozen north..when the ice and snow melt it comes down
as liquid.

Oh and bye the way..thx for the organizers..isn't life wonderful!!!

Lokalzeit in Deutschland. Kommt mir wirklich nicht sonderlich fair vor
wenn Erika & Co eine schlaflose Nacht verbringen m�ssen um am Contest
teilzunehmen. Das Band w�rde auf halbem Wege im Contest f�r sie nach S�den
wenn die Sonne im Osten aufgeht und die F-Layers werden verschwinden.
Keine spa�ige Zeit f�r unsere Mitglieder auf der anderen Seite des gro�en
Teichs
und Erika wird schrecklich aussehen, wenn der Morgen kommt ;-((

Nun la�t uns mal nach den Jungs an der linken K�ste sehen. F�r sie, der
Start um
0000z ist 1700 Lokalzeit oder so etwa, kaum eine Spitzenzeit f�r 40 m. Sie
k�nnen
vielleicht einpaar gute Spr�nge gegen Ende des Sprints machen, aber die
Ausbreitung wird
ziemlich kurz f�r sie sein. I denke wirklich, da� die Westk�stler auch

eine gr��ere Entfernung zu �berlappen. Das ergibt eine gute Chance Europa
von der
Ostk�ste zu arbeiten und Hawai von der Westk�ste. Ebenso m��t Ihr nicht

loggen, nur den Contest um 20.00 Lokalzeit beginnen und Log in Zulu wie
immer.
Wegen der kurzen Zeit ist es ziemlich schwierig, den Sprint gerecht f�r alle
zu machen.
Ich denke, die Startzeit auf der Ortszeit zu basieren ist der beste Weg, das
zu erreichen.

Keep the sprint going, I will not be on but do not change it just for me. I
think that the idea of 2000 local is a good idea and fair for everyone. If
and when the family gets in the way of the next contest I will just get rid
of them hi hi. Have fun and I will be complaining to the xyl the whole time
just so she does not plan a trip on a contest date again hi hi.

Hey Again Everybody,

I've received some emails from several folks, stating that it doesn't seem
like using local time is the best thing to do.
Welllll...... conditions on 40 meters are not the best all over the world
all at the same time, we didn't want to penalize anyone by having to start
the contest in the morning while people on the other side of the globe were
enjoying 40 meters in the evening. That's also why we are giving
certificates to the winners in each TIME ZONE instead of just an overall
winner.
Yeah, it's different, but nobody ever said it couldn't be fun.
