We Came We Saw And I think We Rumbled

kf4hou <kf4hou@...>

Had fun But, Mother Nature Frowned some on us. But did manage to wrk
a few good contacts I heard My friend Mohammed in CN but he didn't
hear me. I think I heard more EU stations than excepted but only a
hand full I could work. And didn't hear to many NE EU stations at all
Nothing past Germany. But Southern EU to middle east was Fair going
This contest was fun and challenging. When the Kp index hit abt a 4 I
finally got to work some to north of me. But, Canadanians were not
plentyful like the should have been. Hope I didn't step on anyones
toes on 20m but, I know a few did me. No matter how careful you try
to be on 20m there is always someone going to complain hi hi.
Oh, Well next time Hopefully we will having something a little bit
better to give me some punch. instead of a all bnder Dipole. stuck on
ne,sw directions.

One question First real contest I have been serious about can some
explain how to taly up the scores. For the idiot at hand here.

Well I think yv5aax will have a darn high score he was wrking them
ever where. into EU like it was easy. And duncan sure was wrking them
too. not sure how well he did after daylight here.

Hey Bob,

Yea, yesterday was different alright.

Usually Canada is really good for me, but I only got 1 VE in the
contest, and it's usually like I'm connected to Japan with a wire,
but I didn't see a single JA, either.
Right at the start, I saw Nando PY5XT, on 15 meters, and I hollered
at him and he came right back, and I thought, man, this is going to
be great, well, it didn't take me long to realize that the rest of
the contest wasn't going to be that easy, but I did manage to get
Duncan too, he had a great signal.
I did learn some things from using 5 watts this weekend, but I'm not
sure what they were :-) I would see very strong signals and try and
try to call them with no reply, then when their signal would start to
fade, I'd call and they would come back, this happened several
times ???
Oh, and I caught N3DQU/P trying to leave the state, when I talked to
him, he was already in Deleware, no tellin where he is by now.
If you want to try something challenging, crank the power down and
jump in a crowd and see what happens. I look at the QRP folks in a
little different light, now.
All in all it was a fun time, but like Duncan said in an earlier
post, not a record setter.

A fun event. Worked several new states and one new Province, and
even got
some outside work done! No great score...but then it's the FUN
more than
the high score..right?
Oh..Duncan..you kept booming in here also..I should have been an
SWL entrant

didn't
hear my 18 watts either!

Rumble

John Durbin <durbinsjz@...>

I had a good time in the Rumble even if the score was real low. I could see a lot of stations that I could not work. This time I went for the great category and I think that even with 50 watts I would not of done any better. Before I had to quit early to pick up my wife and daughter from the airport, they will not go on vacation during a Rumble again hi hi, the bands started to open up for me. I was able to work Jay AA8QQ on 6 meter and only one contact on 80 meter. All in all it was another fun contest and just waiting for the TDW and the fall Rumble. Looking forward to seeing everyone that will be at Dayton.

It was an experience

bernie_kf4fhs <kf4fhs@...>

Well folks, it's humility time.

It was the perfect contest.... well, almost.
I only had a couple of tiny little glitches, not even hardly worth
mentioning, but since I'm here... At about 19:00z my main logging
program crashed , leaving me to hope the logger in Digipan really
works, and it does. At about 21:00z I had just got finished tuning up
on 20 meters and forgot reduce my power and I made a couple of
contacts at 50 watts instead of 5 ( I'm truly sorry if I QRM'ed
anyone )and had to chase them down and recall them. At about 21:30z
our Parrot started calling CQ in the CW mode at about 15 WPM and
wouldn't shut up till I covered him with a blanket. As for the rest
of the contest, the bands were pretty much unsympathetic to my poor
little 5 watts.
So if by chance, you happen to look at the scores, you can find mine
down close to the bottom.

Anyone else have as much fun as I did ?

Fun contest.Decided to work it qrp ,with the FT817,and MP-1 portable antenna,
on the back patio.
Actually managed to make a few contacts, but....forgot about the pollen and
unseasonablly hot wx, here in the deep south.
Sort of hard to decipher yellow traces,on a laptop screen, coated with yellow
pollen. Anyway, thanks to all the operators, especially Bill,KG6EHF,who really
struggled to pull in my 3W signal.
Send the TARA sunburn ointment ASAP........

I see from the amount of email traffic on 070 that you guys didn't have a good time?
No records will be broken this time! But where did all you people get to? I worked
some QRP guys from the end of the Earth, and all you sent was emails! Well! Now the
count up starts...I reckon Ludek had a good time...I watched him workin' into Africa
several times....I just called CQ to nothin' a fair bit...but thanks to all you guys
who gave me a point!
I even worked the Boss a couple of times!
I'm getting quite good at 'filling in gaps' in the print too! Dozens of unreadable
traces at times, somebody must've scored well?
See ya'll in October!

7:30am New York, The sun is shining. No PSK traces anywhere to be seen except ZL3JT.  Ragged chewed with Duncan for a short while at 100% copy, both 50 watts. To top it off there was a little earth quake to boot. Crazy eh!  Ernie
