Dayton 2003 replies

Ok gang, thanks for the quick replies about your Dayton 2003 plans. At the
very minimum, I am planning on having an 070 Club dinner Saturday nite. More
info will follow as we get things organized.
For those members who couldn't make it into Dayton this year or won't be
able to attend next year's event, you are more than welcome to organize
regional 070 Club eyeball meetings in your area. If you send me a group
picture, I will send Attaboys to all members who were there. I did give out
Attaboys to those who made it to Dayton 2002 and will be sending
Friedrichshafen Attaboys to OK1AK, OK1AD and DL2RR for their get-together
last month, very fb!....73 de Jay N3DQU

Hey Everybody,

First, I would like to Thank everyone who came out and played in the first
ever 40m PSK Firecracker Sprint.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did. Here in the Pacafic
Northwest, 40 meters was more active than 20, while the sprint was going on.
Maybe this will help to get more activity on bands, other than just 20
meters.

After all was said and done, I think using the Local time scheme was the
only way to go, and from the feedback that I've received from others, I
think everyone agrees.
Thanks goes out to Jay / N3DQU for that brilliant idea. Man, what would we
do without you !

I realize that the Sprint was sprung on you with a very short notice, and
I apologize for that, but there was growing interest in getting something
going, and this was the best time that we could find to do it. The Sprint
went from an idea to reality in about 3 hours very early, Thursday morning.
N3DQU and myself setup this thing while talking on IM, and my XYL, Melonie /
KD7ORS made the webpage as we worked things out. And I'd like to say a
special Thanks to her for all the work she has done, and for putting up with
me.

Soooo, I guess given the short notice and preparation time everyone had, we
can still say it was a success.

For anyone who doesn't already know, the results are being posted as I
receive them, at:

http://www.angelfire.com/folk/leonards/40mresults.html

Thanks again to everyone who participated in the Sprint.

I would like to get an idea of who all is planning on making it to
Dayton next year. If we do have an 070 Club get-together, it will most
likely
take place on Saturday evening of that weekend (Dayton runs Friday,
Saturday
and Sunday). Please respond with a yea, nay or even a mebbe, not sure yet
would be fine too. This is just for pre-planning purposes, nothing written
in
stone..Tnx es 73 de Jay N3DQU.

Hello All,
Looks like everyone had a GREAT time during the 40m Sprint. I'm sorry
I missed it, but I'm sure there will be another one. And to make
matters worse, I don't have 40 meter capabilities. Here in the
concrete jungle, it's even hard stringing up a wire unless I put it
through my neighbors window.

Hey Bernie -

Can I reclassify myself as Medium Power? I swear I never went over
100 watts!

Then I could claim first place in the Eastern time zone! :-)

Seriously, my congratulations to you and Jay for implementing this
idea so quickly and so well.

I agree with you on the short notice for the contest. I'm a little confused
as to why it has to be this weekend unless they want it to tie in with the
holiday, thus the name "Firecracker Sprint."
Actually, the reason why we picked this weekend is because it one of the
few weekends in July without any major contests going on. The 13-14 is the
IARU HF Championship, the 20-21 is the NA RTTY QSO Party, the 27-28 is the
Russian RTTY WW Contest and RSGB IOTA Contest...If you guys want, we can put
the sprint on the backburner til a later date...Jay N3DQU
