Bah .. there is so much frequency out there .. why does a LID squat EXACTLY on the frequency of an Angola station I was trying to grab.

The guantanamo bay station was on 15M PSK earlier this morning but it was a massive pile up with some folks running 6 books of canned scripts instead of just the bare minimum *sigh*  Couldn’t break it unfortunately.

Guess that I got lucky from my corner of the country.  I hadn't noticed, but I was almost QRP when he returned my call.  Radio is strange sometimes.

If you have your dial (USB) at one of those freqs (5330.5, 5346.5 .5357.0 , 5371.5 or 5403.5), then you have to select exactly +1500 on the HRD waterfall ...  So that your actual trace is at  5332, 5348, 5358.5, 5373 and 5405.

Maybe a HRD user on the list can post a screenshot showing a 5346.5 dial and +1500 (so 5348) waterfall marker ?

Below is my WinWarbler (DXLab Suite).  Note dial QRG in upper right, and actually RX/TX freqs near bottom.

Re: 60 meter psk ?

60M is channelized, and changed recently (2012?) ..

Max 100W.
Channels:
5330.5 USB phone1 and CW/RTTY/data2
5346.5 USB phone1 and CW/RTTY/data2
5357.0 USB phone1 and CW/RTTY/data2
5371.5 USB phone1 and CW/RTTY/data2
5403.5 USB phone1 and CW/RTTY/data2
========>>>>>>>  That's USB dial freq, and PSK trace must be ONLY at +1500Hz <<<<<<<===========

I don't remember offhand, and don't see it on that arrl page,  but i think the channels might have different uses/priorities, so that's something to look up, too ...

Here are downloads of the graphical bandplan charts:

[60M] "General, Advanced, and Amateur Extra licensees may operate on these five channels on a secondary basis with a maximum effective radiated output of 100 W PEP. Permitted operating modes include upper sideband voice (USB), CW, RTTY, PSK31 and other digital modes such as PACTOR III as defined by the FCC Report and Order of November 18, 2011. USB is limited to 2.8 kHz centered on 5332, 5348, 5358.5, 5373 and 5405 kHz. CW and digital emissions must be centered 1.5 kHz above the channel frequencies indicated above. Only one signal at a time is permitted on any channel."

Unfortunately my un-modded IC706MKII won't TX on 60M ...

Another resource -- the K3UK sched site has a forum just for 60M ... (though you're probably better off soliciting in the lotw or digital sections)

Don't know what propagation patterns are for PNW.  You should check out MUF charts between you and Southern Africa. That would be a good indicator as to what times to listen/
