I've done that in poor conditions when correcting my call for someone, but not as a general rule, that's for sure.

To each his own, I reckon!

When you order heat sink stuff get the Arctic Silver brand as it was recommended by a ham friend who has a million $$ computer business. There are some You tube videos on replacing heat sink compound which is a big help. Also you'll need an air duster (can of air) which you can get at Costco and other places. It's a good idea to dust out older PC's at least once every year or two.

Jerry, do they have Radio Shack stores around your qth?
It’s stock and is about $2.95 for a tube that’s a lifetime supply.

Finally got computer back working after ducting it out and putting in new heat sink compound. Been running about an hour now with no overheating. Ordered some heat sink compound from Newegg and it took them this long to deliver it.

Keeping my fingers crossed that computer will stay running... it's hard to lift coffee cup with fingers crossed.

$10 fix was cheaper than new computer.

QRZ Logbook

Dan Morris - KZ3T

I was wondering how people handle their QRZ Logbook for those that use it?? In other words, I’m not as familiar with QRZ Logbook as I should be.

1. I’m curious as to the confirmations. I’m assuming those contacts with a ‘yellow star’ are already confirmed because they match another call in that person’t QRZ Logbook ??

2. How do you handle QSL’s in ACLog from QRZ Logbook?? I was thinking of putting a ‘Q’ in the Sent Confirmed and Rcvd Confirmed?? I think I would only need to put a ‘Q’ in those fields only if that person does not use eQSL or LoTW???

Any other suggestions on working with QRZ Logbook?? I am just starting to use it as another avenue for QSL’s and was hoping to get some insight on the best way or how others utilize it. I just uploaded an ADIF file and some of the ‘Yellow Start’ showed up in that column, which I assume means it has been confirmed?

Thanks in advance.

APE (August PSK Expedition) is not too far away to start your planning for this year.

For you new members, APE is a cross between Field Day and a contest.  You need to be over 20 miles from your home base and make 20 PSK contacts.  The contacts are usually somewhere between contest style and rag chewing.

This is a great way to meet some of the other members of the club and also get non-members to join us.I go we several of my buddies and we have lots off fun on that weekend.

Look on the web site (APE) at the Tall Tales to see some of APEs from past years.
