Re: FT8 vs other modes - my numbers
Hi all -
I did a *lot* of FT8 in 2018, as kinda shows from my IGC standings. ;)
And I have a nuanced perspective on it as a DX mode.
The good news is that FT8 is a high-power mode. There are

Re: Up and running portable in Lake Havasu
Paula-
How about an update? How is the portable op going? Were you able to get on 40m and have any luck? Could you make it into the Pacific on either band? Any DX into Europe or South America? I

Re: FT8 vs other modes - my numbers
You are right. I work FT8 and have a lot of QSOs, but I have GREAT difficulty working DX on FT8. I even have trouble working West Coast on FT8 while working a vast amount of DX on CW. I am on DXCC

Peter,
My computer locked up and I had to restart DM780 – I watched for a while to see if you would call me again, but I didn’t see you, so I moved on to the Japan Station. Hope to get you

Re: Up and running portable in Lake Havasu
Paul, I will be here for a while, so you’ll have a chance to get me on 40 meters. And anyone else that needs a YL on 40 meters! Come one, come all! I will be on this evening if at all possible!

Re: Up and running portable in Lake Havasu
Paula’s got a great signal on 20m into the PNW USA. And yes, Suke JM7OLW is booming in here as well, down low. Suke has been appearing pretty consistently every afternoon. Always great to connect

Worked Paula easily from central Florida on 20m. Strong signal, but I did have some local QRM that got in the way. She had the dipole leaning against the house - and up only about 15 ft! But it

Paula es ham stick dipoles
Paula,
You will not regret ham stick dipoles, vertical or horizontal
Vertical, omni directional and lower takeoff angle
Horizontal, side lobe null for couple dB signal advantage front and back
IF

Re: Certificate and Rollo tag
Ah, OK.
I think I did send certificates for the 2017 contests out to everyone that had one coming, but I must have missed the one for 2017 Triple Play when I sent your other stuff.
I'll get one made

Wait a sec.... Brian, you say you're waiting on a 2017 certificate, and there was a "thanks for getting them out this year" comment. Did anybody receive certificates for 2017?
Y'all give me some
