I've come up with a solution to this problem.
I'm now feeding my vertical with 300 ohm ladder line, and impedance matching
is not a problem, because the 50 ohm feedpoint impedance goes into 300

Yes Bernie...I had that same problem, but I solved it by drilling through
the connector and placing a small cotter-pin straight through to prevent the
unscrewing, thereby allowing the coax to twist.
