Congrats, George.

As a fellow member of the Land of Lakes ARC in NE Indiana, we will need to carry the PSK torch for increasing activity.

But we can do it!!

Welcome and now it's time to start collecting PODXS 070 Club member QSO's!

I went from a KX3 to a K4.  Little to NO learning curve, for me...  K4, great rig.  Easy to go from digital to voice and back.

Had a QSO tonight with George on 80m.  And he helped me with my 365 quest for 11/23.
Told him I was looking forward to collecting his new PODXS number soon.

JoAnn...
I'm giving it a serious look.
One of my oldest and best'est BFF's, W5XZ has a few of them.
He does 1 band, 160m and swears by them.
The wagons are still circling. On the Yaesu, there's a total of $950 in instant rebates available that expire on the 30th of this month. A source tells me that they'll be extended to cover the Christmas holiday season.
I dunno...

Milt,
Have you looked at the Flex 6600/M?  Dual receivers. Three (3) instances per receiver. Two (2) External Ports for Transvers. The M Model gives you a front panel Screen and knobs and switches and buttons. Built in Speaker. You can route RX1 to Left ear and RX2 to Right ear.
Just my two cents worth.

P.S. My wife TOLD me that the Flex was my LAST Radio. I still have my FT-1000MP that I gought in 2000.

Good question.
There's more filtering options on the MP model, than the D model.
The speaker/power supply comes with the MP model.
Yip, double the RF out on the MP, nice, but not a determining factor.
Those Sherwood ratings on the MP are impressive.
I really haven't made up my mind yet, but I'm leaning towards the MP.
The critical path is still: Aerial --> Feed Line --> Receiver.
That's where I am. No game face yet, but I'm getting there.
And now, Jim tells me I have to get 2...I'll get right on that! :-)

Milt,
What is the difference with the FTDX-101D?  Is one 100 watts and the other 200 watts?  Sherwood ratings has it in first place.  I hear the interface takes a little getting use to.

Milt,

I agree about the critical path.  I would like to add geography.  Living in a house with a hill blocking my southern direction makes it difficult to hear anything in that direction. And as you suggest without a good antenna system the best rig in the world can't do its thing.

My son-in-laws father just got his K4.  It was over a year after he placed his order.  He tells me there is a learning curve from his K3.
It all comes down to what you are comfortable with.  Have you been to HRO to test drive one.  That is if they have any in the store.

Good luck and enjoy,
Bob

I'm going to start circling the wagon's on choosing a new HF radio.
The idea of having 2 totally independent SDR receivers is calling me, plus it comes with a speaker and power supply.
This is going to be my last HF rig purchase...(I've hardly ever said that before)...

Take a look on 40M tonite for George, KD9PCN from NE Indiana.

George is a member of the same Land of Lakes ARC I belong to up there.
