Gentlemen! The Rare DX station DOES NOT NEED TO KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A SOUNDBLASTER SOUNDCARD, unless of course, he asks you! And telling them how fast your computer is and how much ram you've got only frustrates all those who want a contact....Please stick to the relevant info and we can all get a call...RST, Name and QTH is all that is required..even the local temperature is irrelevant...is he not on the other side of the globe! A real good idea is to short your transmissions and wait for the gap, rather than calling over each other...just a stupid mess....Happy New Year! Of course! I apologise it's not this group that needs the advice....:-) __________________________________________________ Advertise with ZFREE - to find out more click below http://www.zfree.co.nz/about-us/advert.html

With DX-cluster, the pile-up is created within seconds. A few days ago I heard 7Q7LA callign CQ in CW and we had a nice chat for a while. As soon as I signed SK, a huge pile up started instantaneously, making further contacts with 7Q7LA nearly impossible. It would be nice if the DX Clusters had an entry (check mark in a column)
telling its users to only give the minimal info. Would be even better if we could have all the lids beamed up to the mother ship for reprogramming. hmmm, sounds like a good use for that [F 12] key I never use... [F 12] = zap lid... Here's wishing everyone a prosperous and happy 2002 good DX (without the lids), de AA8QQ - Jay

Yes I saw you, I'm not in a hurry about him, have worked him in ssb, so it
wouldn't be a completely new one. It is digusting every time a new one turns up, they keep calling and calling so actually nobody has a chance. Don't think we can change those which forget it is just a hobby and not a matter of life or death. Good weekend to all and a good year 2002 ! Erika/DL2AYL

ZTrain
tgstoops <n3xc@...>
Hi Duncan...hope that your Christmas was a good
one... I used to have an HO gage train set-up, back in the early
70's, that would knock your socks off if you saw it....I was a real train
nut then and still am, somewhat...Ham radio and old cars have taken up
most of my time these days... the ZTrain in my e-mail address is a local
provider that I use...I have met the fellow that started it, but never asked him
if he was a train nut too.. will have to do that one day soon...so there
you are.. Hope your New Year is filled with great dx and good props. all year
long....take care

CQ Digital Prefix Hunters
N3DQU@...
CQ digital prefix hunters! Beginning January 1, 2002, the Penn-Ohio DX
Society (PODXS) will be unveiling a new award program called PODXS DPX. Similar to the CQ WPX program, PODXS DPX is for the amateur out there who does his prefix hunting on the digital modes. The idea for this award came from Ernie Mills WM2U when he discovered that the CQ WPX program covered only the CW and Phone modes. So for the last couple of weeks, Ernie and I have been burning up the internet, sending ideas and files back and forth until finally we came up with what we think will be a very popular program with the digital crowd! As it turns out, Ernie is a great guy to work with and pretty much already had the whole thing figured out at his end, all I had to do is throw in my 2 cents worth every once in awhile to keep things interesting! Hmmm...Guess that is why the Rumble is such a big success, eh! The rules and forms are available at two websites: < http://www.qsl.net/wm2u/podxs_dpx.html > and < http://hometown.aol.com/n3dqu/podxs_dpx.htm >. A "Top Ten" list will also be posted yearly on the PODXS website. Note that the DPX program will not be officially online until Jan 1, 2002 so don't start sending in your applications yet, but I wanted to give you guys advance notice so you can start counting up them prefixes. Also, please note that 070 Club members get a 50% discount on the basic certificate, just one of the many perks of 070 Club membership hi! 73 de Jay N3DQU.

Some people think I'm always looking for "angles" and loopholes. IOne clarification, if I may ask: By Spain, do you mean DXCCHmmm....good question. Man, you are on the ball hi! Let's go for prefer to think of it as clarifying the requirements. Actually, that's part of my job, writing procurement specs so customers can buy what they need, and contractors know what's expected of them. It can be tricky to make sure that both sides interpret the same words in the same way! Besides, I'd rather get this clarification decided early, instead of letting it hang around for a long time, subject to debates, etc. Thanks for thinking about it. Maybe I'll be the only one who asks before you formally post the clarification. Steve

Hey, no mess here. I think Jay has come up with some decent choices here that will be achievable with reasonable efforts. There are lots of EA stations on the air, workable from the East Coast and Europe, and lots of JAs available from the West Coast and the Pacific. Steve W3HF

Suggested Frequencies by band for PSK31
Barry Rimmer
Hello fellow PSK31 lovers,
I have almost 500 PSK31 contacts, all on 10, 15, or 20 meters. I would like to add a few other bands to my contacts. Following is a list of frequencies by band where I think PSK31 activity is supposed to be. If anyone would like to email me directly or reply to this list giving input on frequencies by band, I will consolidate the list and repost it. I know we can operate at different frequencies within the bands, but I think if there were some more common frequencies for other than 10, 15, and 20 meters we might find more activity on these other bands. PSK31 USB dial Frequencies, usually 1500 Hz tone is center of activity. 160m 1812, 1838 80m 3580, 3582 40m 7035, 7037, 7070, 7072, 7076, 7080 30m 10130, 10138, 10139, 10142 20m 14070 17m 18100 15m 21070 12m 24920 10m 28120 6m 50290, 50590 2m 144140, 145510, 144520 73, Barry K4MG (please excuse the cross posting) Email: mailto:k4mg@... 2002 DX Specials
N3DQU@...
The new DX Specials for the year 2002 are now posted up on the 070
endorsements webpage. A reminder too that the 2001 DX Specials are winding down so get out there and get them DL's and BV's in the log! Due to an apparent shortage of PSK ops in Taiwan, I've decided to award the BV SP to whomever has the most Taiwanese stations in the log...73 de Jay N3DQU.
