Re: Any APEs for August?

Jeremy N1ZZZ

I am in the preliminary planning stage of an APE the last few days of August when my wife and I will be visiting my parents in Eastern Long Island.  The station will be set up on our private property, so no POTA activation is planned.  Once I firm up the schedule, I will make a post.

Question about Fldigi

Question about Fldigi.
Knowledgeable user's...Is there a pop-up icon feature with Fldigi that recognizes an 070 member when
it prints the members callsign?
I've been using MixW for a L O N G time and that's a big plus for me.
Being fair, on the downside, MixW doesn't interface with ACLog. (To my knowledge.)
Experienced replies about the icon please?

I can give an additional vote for fldigi, but keep in mind it's going to depend
what your requirements are.  It works well for me, but I probably don't use it
the way you do.  It does have the ability to be extended with external
scripting, so if there's a feature it doesn't have natively, you might be able
to write something yourself to plug that hole; but I would start with listing
what HRD does that you use today, and see if you can check off that punch list
while comparing different tools.

Endorsement Daze #7 – 88 Tri-Band and WARC-CRAWL

stan W9SMR

Endorsement Daze #7 – 88 Tri-Band and WARC-CRAWL

Starting: 00:00 UTC on Saturday, August 20

Ending:  23:59 UTC on Sunday, August 21

This is our 7th Endorsement Daze Event. IT IS NOT A CONTEST.

For the first time, emphasis will be given to the 88 Tri-Band Endorsement.

Only about 10% of the membership have completed this endorsement.

To qualify for the 88 Tri-Band Endorsement, a station must work 3 different YL’s with each being on a different band.

Our 46 YL members of 070 have been invited to participate and will receive a special

“88 Tri-Band Atta-Girl” for their participation.

We will also offer the WARC-CRAWL Atta-Boy. Just make one QSO on each of our WARC Bands 30M/17M/12M and receive the new Atta-Boy.

The added benefit is progress (crawling) toward the existing WARC Endorsements. Earn the Tri-WARC (3 QSOs on each WARC band) and you are on your way to the WARC Endorsements (12/12M, 17/17M, 30/30M).

During Daze #6, 15 members qualified for and received the  WARC-CRAWL Atta-Boy. Several have since qualified for multiple WARC Endorsements.

(See WARC Endorsement rules below.)

Following successful completion of your WARC-CRAWL Challenge, post your story on the Reflector and/or send me an email advising me of your successful operation and a “WARC-CRAWL Atta-Boy” PDF will be emailed to you.

And look for those new calls for added LONP credits.

Our Endorsement Daze #7 event is planned for 48 hours in hopes of finding everyone’s available operating times. There is nothing critical about your operating times. Get on when you can and the conditions on your chosen band are favorable and enjoy the event. As you see activity on the waterfall, be sure to “SPOT” those calls and your own to PSKReporter and on the Reflector.

Join the fun and enjoy…Call: CQ CQ 070 Daze de (Ur Call)

We encourage you to work nonmembers too. Just show them how much fun the PODXS 070 Club can be and welcome them to join us.

After you enjoy the Daze #7, please send me your comments and suggestions to improve this Event.

For all Official 070 Endorsement credit, upload your complete log promptly to the Online Endorsement Checker :  Online Endorsement Checker

JoAnn. I know what you mean abt HRD. I like it ok but my favorite is FLDIGI with ACLOG. Works great. And they don't charge 50 bucks a year just to answer a question

FLGDIGI has a great group.Everyone more than happ to help you.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I tried MixW 4 but couldn't get it to work like the older version and I prefer the way the older (3.2.105) works.
The 3.2 version doesn't do FT8.

Re: Finally had Enough of HRD. Need suggestions?

Steve,

I,ve been using Fldigi for over ten yrs and highly recommend it.  Works well with ACLOG and has about twenty digital modes and all of their sub modes.  48 macros and plenty of great features.  There is also a great users group, free help, no yearly fee.

Re: Any APEs for August?

Steve WB3LGC

Yes, I too will be in my shack.  I had started to think about APE, but August is too hot in DE for anything but inside radio.  The heat for FD was bad.  Just packing the 4x4 in the heat and I was shot for the rest of the day.  Maybe an APRIL APE would be better??  Age and heat don't seem to mix for me.

6m has been active with FT8, has anyone been on PSK?

When I see the APE dates for 2022 (I see they should be on the web), I will add them to my calendar.  At least the SHACK is not too warm.

Re: License Stuff - CORES Changes in 4 days

The cores system uses authentication on the requests to download your license. If you bookmark a link that is subject to authentication and attempt to visit it after you have logged out or your session expired it will not work. If anyone could request your license without authentication then others could download it as well. You can always login to get a new copy but it is good to make some copies for the shack and the wallet regardless.
