Okay gentlemen, lets close this thread before it gets out of hand.

As with everything, everyone has their opinion on a multitude of subjects.  There is a way to express your opinion politely, and inflammatory.

That may well be your opinion.

I have been using HRD for years and find it to be very useful. Although HRD does not require me to pay the annual fee, I do so. I completely disagree with your contention that it is a rip off.

I have friends who highly recommend DXLab software, which is free, but it is the work of a single individual. I find HRD to be much better integrated than DXLabs, but that is my opinion.

The recent upgrade to HRD may have been released prematurely, but in an effort to release new features, there are a few bugs to be worked out. The professional programmers on staff will resolve them in time.

I helped Buz WA5AMM do a revert a little while ago.  Some of those old versions probably won't work as there were different MS files (some of which are no longer available) that had to load.  Then too, HRD changed their product key methodology and I don't know if the current key will work on the old versions.  I know it does for Ver 6.6.0.236 as that is what I'm currently running on a Win 7 machine.  I can send you the setup file for it if it helps.  Also Ver 6.7.0.227, but I don't use.  Let me know if you want one or the other.

W4ELP - Add on program for HRD Enhancements

Buz Johnson

Guys and gals who use HRD, I’ve found a very useful add on program that works with HRD.   It is completely separate and changes nothing in HRD’s program, but makes it much more PSK user friendly.  It has a whole host if HOTKEYS to activate macros with one key stroke and 2 finger key strokes to activate other useful operations.  I started conversing with Ed Proctor, W4ELP about his program a month or so ago and asked could we have a lookup feature for PODXS070 members like QRZ?  Well, that started his genius brain to thinking and I’ve been testing a beta version for this and it’s working very well.  In fact he released it to the public today.  Not only is it working for PODXS070, but he has included SKCC, FIST and one other group.  So when you right click on a call, it immediately puts it in the ALE, fills in all the QRZ information, checks the HRD logbook for past QSOs and shows the number and last QSO, if he or she is  PODXS070 member that will post in the comment window.  Also previous comments from the last QSO.  There are way too many things it adds to HRD than I could explain here, but it works with most all versions of HRD and corrects the right click problems with the latest version of HRD.

The W4ELP program  can be found on W4ELP io.groups

stan W9SMR

2022 ARRL Field Day will be conducted June 25 / 26, 2022

PODXS 070 will offer two different Endorsement Stickers.

These Endorsement Stickers are offered to reward PODXS 070 members who complete PSK-31 contacts during the ARRL Field Day.

The body of your email needs only your Call and Member number.  Please DO NOT send or attach your log.  This is on the Honor System.  If you say you participated, you participated! - even if you were in a support role (setup/tear-down, KP duty, etc. and never actual got on air.)  Your Sticker will be included in our next mailing!

Field Day Club Upload Sticker

As an incentive to participate as a PODXS 070 Member and for making the upload to ARRL (as a PODXS 070 Member) to publicize our PODXS 070 Club , we will instead offer a unique Club Entry/Upload Sticker thanking you for doing that.

Grids I still need in Maine, if you get that way:
           FN45, FN55, and FN56.

As to only 4 grids left unworked, there are several in the worked 1 - 5 category that are dubious.  If it was reported by the Progress Checker, I did not remove it.  The exception was stations outside the USA which don't count towards 070 grids (and there are tons of Canadian stations that fall in the grids along the border).  Those were deleted from the count.

I think anything 0 thru 20 are grids that will create a pileup and would be greatly appreciated.  And there are some sure winners in Maine.

Safe travels, and I hope gas prices soon turn lower...much lower... and you and Kathy can activate some of those least worked grids out West.

Yes Steve, being retired certainly helps.  Wish I could say the same, but we will be retired again after Jan 2023 when this project commitment ends.  Hopefully gas prices will be lower next year, since we have several trips planned.

Dick I missed a lot of your grids, including those two, as well as many of those from N7WE/p. Lots of conflicts with the job.

Now that I'm retired, it will be easier to be on the air at the right times (as long as I'm not in Thailand). I hope to catch more of them on your future trips.

Hi Barry,

I checked my log and looks like I did not work you from DN01&DN02 during our 2018 trip thru that area.  I was surprised to find that there are only 4 grids left without activity.

Kathy and I are traveling to New England for an event in October and plan on activating some of the grids in Maine and some of the other states.  If anyone neds a grid please let me know.  Kathy and increased the fuel budget to $6 a gallon so we are still going to travel.  It does look like our Western trips will probably wait until prices get better.  We are still planning our next April trip to Ft Worth and will probably hit some of the grids in NE and OK.

I have not been able to get on the air from the apartment for several reason, but the most damaging one is that the electrical system has the old Cutler-Hammer circuit breakers that are RF sensitive, so if I transmit more than 5 watts I trip several of the breakers.
