Re: Chimp on 20m

Thanks John! I was doing a trial run to make sure everything works. I'm planning on running portable/mobile from some of the less popular grid squares here in TN. There was a short somewhere in the line to the antenna because signals were cutting in and out. When I got to my destination, I checked the line and the end popped off the coax at the antenna! I had another end with me that I crimped on. That's when I was able to get on and start calling CQ.
Thanks again!

He's on right now.  Big signal into Florida with only 10 watts.

Re: FTDx-101MP Mode Setting #information

Darin - NY7H

I've been using HRD but I just started evaluating Win4Suite.  I really like it.  I've linked HRD logbook with Win4Suite too giving me the same look at logs as with HRD.  I linked N1MM+ with Win4Suite as well.
The presets help keep my ALC almost on zero.  I was testing that using HRD when I was running Chimp using the IC-7100.
The 101MP sure is sensitive.  I hear stations now that I never heard before.

I've been Dazed . . .

GA - Bob - K4VBM

Well, the weekend was a lot of fun during the Daze!

I chased and caught some chips, got a few new PODXS member numbers,
completed my 17/17m, and only need 3 more for 12m and 10 more for 30m.

Thanks to everyone that was on the WARC bands this weekend.
The bands were fickle, the conditions were mostly horrible, with some bright spots shining through!

And I snagged Steve, VA3FLF, just after the Daze ended on 30m, but he ended up being my 5/16/2022 365 QSO which leaves me  with 14 days left!
Thanks Steve (and I called CQ about 10 minutes on 12m after, but I didn't see you).

Thanks again all you PODXSers - you're the best!  Stay safe and well!

73,

Bob Hensey

Been shut down since about 1815 UTC due to t-storm.  Forecast now to last until about 0100 UTC.  So I'm done.  Had a blast!  Thanks to everyone who played and made it another GREAT 070 event!

Chimp Chase Report

Cliff Clark

For the chimp chase, on Saturday, I set up my portable/mobile station at Swallows State Park POTA K-2143.  Good thing I operated from the car, because it was a bit rainy.

I got 7 PSK31 QSOs on 17M
I got 2 PSK31 QSOs on 30M
And 3 on PSK31 20M.

I tried calling quite a bit on 12M, but was unable to hear anything, so no WARC Crawl, unfortunately.

The good news is that I successfully activated the park using PSK31, which is cool.  I did make 1 CW park 2 park contact, but other than that, it was all PSK31.

I forgot to charge my laptop before I left, so I started with about 30% battery, and my charger decided not to work.  Fortunately, it started working (still not sure why) and it charged up.

Thanks everyone for the QSOs.

Attached are some pictures.  That's the snake river (the Idaho border) right next to the park.

Re: Anyone still need a 30m Q for the CRAWL?

Rick - N7WE

Nothing happening...so....to paraphrase a Vince Gill song....

"But nobody answered when I called CQ.
Oh the lonely sound of my rig hummin'
Is driving me insane
And like my mind, the waterfall's empty
Cause nobody answered when I called CQ"

Yeah, I'm kind of bored right now.

Anyone still need a 30m Q for the CRAWL?

Rick - N7WE

At 1920 UTC I'm QSY to 30m and calling for a while.  If you still need a 30m Q for the CRAWL, look for me about 10,141,200

Chimp on 20m

Rick - N7WE

Johnathan - KI4WVW - 070 # 2915 is running portable - 6W on 20m as a chimp.  He's a fairly new member so you can grab another LONP credit and help him make his 5 for Chimp Chase.  Go get him!
