Triple Play 160m last night
Was there anything happening on 160m last night? I read the chat from last night but didn't see much about 160. I don't have a 160m antenna, but if there was some activity I might try to jury rig something up this afternoon. Cool day here in Florida - a blessed relief!

Re: Sprint reply correction
I finally got back on the air at 00:28 after being off because of a lightning strike two days before the last contest. I gave up on my TS590SG getting it working and will have to send it in to Kenwood for Major repairs. It appears the com chip is blown and hopefully it didn’t get into the CPU. It will be 5-6 weeks before I get it back. So I turned to my old TS440AT and got it going just at contest time. I also lost due to lightning strike 2 computers and SignaLink, plus my a/c control board. I ordered a new RigBlaster DXPro and it took a week of service calls before I could get it to play nice with my computer. Adjusting the ALC is difficult on the ol 440 and it keeping it cool requires a additional outboard fan, but it was great to be back. I made contacts on all three bands. See you guys tonight.

No. We use that word to mean a short contest, in this case, six hours per day.
That's in contrast to a contest that's 24 hours long.

Endorsement Assistant
It is unfortunate news that our current Endorsement Manager,
Jerry N9AVY, is undergoing some major health issues that will
hinder his ability to research and approve members endorsement
requests. Jerry is in our prayers for his health to be restored quickly,
and his life returned to normal. (for Jerry). I am seeking a volunteer that will work with Jerry, learn the
approval process, and fill in for Jerry when needed. If you are interested put your name in the hat now. Jim K5SP -- Jim, K5SP #483 Executive Director/Member Services Director

Re: QRN Any Ideas?
Stephen KO4CVU
Steve,
If you haven’t already watched a series of YouTube videos about radio interference on RASA’s channel https://youtu.be/bkCvjyjKtpc , you might pick up some good pointers. I built one of those non-resonant loops that is described in one of their videos. When my RFI was at the worst, I was able to trace most every run of romex in the house with the loop and my radio. The ones through the attic to the A/C heat exchangers were the worst. Like yours, my interference would come and go. Wouldn’t you know it, I had strung up a dipole in the attic that run roughly parallel with those 220 volt lines! I am confident that the interference was coming in on the power line. A “coax noise filter” in line with the antenna cable didn’t help. Neither did a phase cancelling box that I bought. I can’t say for sure that the construction of a multi-story storage facility near the neighborhood was the source, but the noise has diminished significantly now that construction is complete. I can remember noticing that they were arc-welding the steel structure. Unfortunately, I didn’t not recognize the potential connection during construction. The noise that I was experiencing was more sporadic when it was there than yours is so yours may be something totally different. Since you can’t listen to the radio much due to the interference, take time to view RASA’s YouTube videos. Maybe you’ll pick up a few ideas from them. And F. Y. I., I am still waiting for a reply from a fellow at the ARRL to a sound clip of my interference that I sent with an email. I understand that they are going through some reorganization at the HQ so I guess it will be a while before I hear anything from them. -- Stephen, KO4CVU

QRN Any Ideas?
Steve VA3FLF/KM4FLF
This what I have been putting up with the last 3 or 4 weeks. It started suddenly. I have tried tracking times, driving around with AM broadcast radio on, but I can not seem to isolate this. I thought grow lights, LED's? The times are totally random but seem to be more often in the evening but sometimes goes way into the late morning.
The recording is 40M and I am 10db over. 30 /20 is effected but slowly gets weaker up the band. 40 and below become completely unusable. Help? Steve VA3FLF

Re: KC3EF October Road Trip Update
And once again Dick, great big thank you to you and Kathy. I really enjoy your road trips and the new grids. You two really are PSK Travelers! It is a long time to next August/September, but I'll just wait it out. There are a bunch of grids out there that are not in my log! Again, thank you both! And Happy Thanksgiving!

Re: KC3EF October Road Trip Update
Richard Rohrer
Well, Kathy and I arrived back in FL on Saturday from 30 days of travel. Thanks to all who worked me during this trip and sorry about those that needed grids, but could not make contact. We will be home for about a week and then traveling to MD for work for a bit. Will be in DE at Thanksgiving and Xmas, so if anyone still needs DE let me know.
Our next road trip is planned for August/September 2022 to the Pacific Northwest hitting some of the grids in NORCAL and OR and WA. I will keep the group posted as the xyl does the planning. 73 Dick - KC3EF

Finally, back on the air
I've been off the air for some time now. We have been in the middle of a move for the last month, and I made the strange decision to go back to school to get a masters degree... at age 63.
Finally got a wire up outside, so I can at least work from the back porch. Working on how to get coax in the house. But I was able to get a new contact on 20 meters PSK this morning! Not sure how long I can work today, but hope to see you on the waterfall soon! 73 John -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ de KG5OIB John Hendry Decatur, Wise County, Texas LOC: EM13eg ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
