Hudak 80M Sprint

Jim K5SP

Did not fare well in the sprint last evening.  Had SWR issues that I could not resolve at night, and had to run QRP to keep swr down to workable level.  Any higher would cause it to drastically jump to over 5.8.

Submitted log anyway, saw many of you but apparently you did not copy me.

On another note, several months ago, all the contests were changed in regards to the required exchange.  You no longer have to include a signal report in the exchange.  Everybody always gave a 599, so it was a useless part of the exchange.  And, for example, the 80m Sprint last evening only required the SPC in the exchange.  Always review the exchange prior to the contest starting.  That being said, we never penalize anyone for having excessive exchanges, in fact, we encourage the time taken to greet old friends and wish them well.

Hope everyone had fun.

It is great to see enthusiasm continuing to grab that 365/366 Endorsement.

Congrats, to our latest successful members !!

Dave, KB3RAN completed his 366 on August 23 from West Quoddy Head Lighthouse State Park, ME.

Alan, KA5VZG completed his 366 on August 6 and rounded out his achievements by grabbing the WARC-CRAWL and Chimp Chase Atta-Boys. Great job, Alan!!

In addition, so far in 2021, Geary, KE5IRK; Mary, KC4TIE; Dave, VE7BGD and John, KG5OIB have completed the challenge.

Needing only November 11 to complete the 366 Award is Ruud, PA3EEG.

Larry, WA7HDZ needed only 3 August dates to complete his 366 award. He has not uploaded yet, so I do not know if he got them.

Good job Bob, KK6KMU, who picked off 10 needed dates in August. Bob, KF3AA grabbed his needed 9 dates.   A special note of encouragement to Bob, K4VBM who, although he needed over 200 dates, has been valiantly picking up every needed day in July and August. Keep it up, Bob. You’ll get there.

In the table below, I have shown September and October need dates for those members needing fewer than 60 days total. These are the folks really getting close.

Be sure to look for them.

I will publish this table periodically as the time approaches. Best of luck and good Propagation to boot! Please verify your own need dates as I may have missed some.

To see what dates you need, upload your full log and check the "Online Endorsement Checker". In the "In Progress" section, click on "Target" for the 360 category and a list of needed dates will show. If you have a problem seeing that, please just let me know.

A helpful hint from Alan, KA5VZG is to check each day around 2345Z and hang around until after 0000Z to see if you can pick up two days. Be sure to call CQ 365 to make your needs known.

The new 365 Chat that KB3RAN set up should be a big help in coordinating.

Endorsement Daze #5 - A Big Success !!

stan W9SMR

The Endorsement Daze Events seem to be gaining momentum and folks are picking up 070 Endorsements, just as hoped.

Two new Atta-boys were introduced and we had some surprising results.

The WARC-CRAWL Atta-Boy winners needed to conduct a single QSO on each of the 3 WARC bands (30M, 17M, 12M) during the Daze #5 Event period, August 21-22. This was a challenge because the upper WARC bands, especially, have not been good for some time.

According to my info, we had 5 members qualify:

Call                 # WARC-CRAWL earned

KC9UR, Bob/Stan               3
N7WE, Rick                         2
KC3FL, John                       2
N5SLY, Lee                          1
KA5VZG, Alan                     1

Special commendation to N7WE and KC9UR who completed a 5 band blitz in 15 minutes, working 30M, 17M, 12M, 15M, and 10M in that order.

Call it WARC-SPEED!

The Chimp Chase Atta-Boy winners were required to operate using an informal portable setup, and to make a PSK31 QSO with a minimum of 5 stations. Those earning this were:

KG5OIB, John – Made 11 contacts on 30M, 20M and 17M as Chimp from Fort Richardson SP in Jacksboro Texas (K-3011). Could not find that illusive 12M QSO

KA5VZG, Alan – Operated using portable antennas from the picnic table. Had to move to the porch with arms full as T-Storms approached. After qualifying for Chimp Chase, continued operating from home QTH and then also earned the WARC-CRAWL Atta-Boy

Honorable Mention – Steve, VA3FLF – Got set up and worked 3 QSOs before rig issues shut him down. Next time, Steve !!

Congratulations and thanks to each of you on your persistence and for participating to make PSK31 the go-to mode it has been in the past.

Your Atta-Boys will arrive shortly via email PDF.

If I have missed your qualifying efforts for WARC-CRAWL or Chimp Chase, please let me know right away.

All,

Thanks for all your help and encouragement.  I think I will stick with AC Log and see how it goes.  I like the watch list feature.  I imported my old log and did a sort on log date which got the data looking like I want.
LOTW and eQSL feature is also nice.  Still getting use to the interface.
