AC Log Help
Bob Motyl KK6KMU
I'm trying out AC Log and have a few questions. I'm using it with FLDIGI, and when I click on a call sign in the receive window it puts it into the FLDIGI call sign field like it is supposed to do.
1. Why does it take so long to populate the AC Log fields. About 3 seconds or more? 2. Why does the call sign field in FLDIGI then go blank. Is this a setting or is this normal? 3. Is the only way to export PSK31 contacts only by sorting on mode and then export from record say 2000 thru 3000 which are the PSK31 QSO's? How does everyone else export their PSK31 QSOs only. I have been using DX Keeper and it has custom sorting features. Any such feature in AC Log. I will have more questions. -- Bob KK6KMU #2484

Re: PODXS LONP greater than 2786
JoAnn,
Receipt of your log is acknowledged.
It's in que for processing.
As far as the macro's and your reason for holding them so closely, and dangling them like a carrot or some kind of a valuable commodity?
I could really care less.
At 1st glance, the log you just submitted is what the instructions for submitting logs asks for.
Had YOU followed those instructions back in June, you'd already be well on your way to earning LONP.
Is LONP worth it? Ask the 457, 070 Club Members, ranging from 070-0010 to 070-2827, that have chosen to participate with pride.

Every member of the advisory council, every person that does any
activities for the club are volunteers! Many have full time jobs,
families, and other obligations that demand their time. I am
totally aware of the hours it takes to verify all LONP and other
endorsement submissions. You have only one log/spreadsheet to
maintain, the endorsement checkers have hundreds.
I see by your QRZ page that you were USAF, and being an officer
were used to every little detail being performed for you by junior
personnel. It doesn't work that way with a volunteer
organization.
Each and every one of us deplores the methodologies that we have
had to implement due to one individual refusing to allow access to
the source code, refuses to share his source code (even though his
endorsement page says he is willing to do so). It is not the
club, or any members fault that Google decided to deprecate their
API code, and caused existing software to no long work as
advertised. We have one repeat one software developer, and he has
a full time job, has a family, and is pursuing his master's
degree. Very little time is left in his daily schedule for doing
our club software. ALL the software has had to be built from the
ground up, this takes a lot of time to ensure that all possible
endorsments are check and accounted for. Then there is extensive
testing involved to ensure that it works properly, that most bugs
are detected and fixed, and that some user entering incorrect data
does not make the program crash.
You can help. If you know how to write code, volunteer. If you
know how to write a macro for Excel, volunteer. If you know of
anything you can do to help, volunteer. But above all do not
complain about the methodologies that members dedicated to seeing
the best PSK club in the world have put in place to allow the
existence of the club to continue. We could have thrown our hands
up in despair when the software broke and let the club disappear.
But, some of us volunteers spend hours of time trying to insure
that the membership remains intact, that the endorsements/awards
continue, and that members have a means, however archaic, of
submitting applications.
A little FYI, the software developer has spent hours just
accomplishing the task of writing programs that score our
contests, count the contests, and you will see how many
individual programs that required (because each contest is
different), and the hours he spend on them. This development
caused the LONP and endorsement checking program development to
take a back seat.
Instead of complaining about the issues, make some contributions
to the development. Ideally we would have everything in a
database, and would only have to write query scripts to present
the data. However, there are no database managers that have
stepped up and volunteered to assume that project. We do not have
funds to "hire" a 3rd party developer, and have yet to find want
that wants to do pro bono work.

Very good advice John. All members should operate as much as possible, giving those in later time zones an opportunity to get people in the log. With our checker, only the contacts within the six hour period the operator chooses count, all outside that six hour window are discarded, BUT they do count for someone who keeps trying and makes contacts within their six hour window. Jim K5SP, I do not like his wording and what he said. It was condescending and very improper IMHO. Once my daughter has got this all working form me, I am not going to share until he apologizes. It made public for all to read. I do not associate with people that are that way. I spent 22 years as a CSI and had to put up with crap like that. never liked it but it was part of the job. Now that I am retired, I will do what I want. I really like the 070 Club but IMHO, it is starting to fall apart because your Infrastructure has started falling apart. BTW I have sent the Excel file of the Call signs and 070 numbers to my daughter. I am sure in a few days she will have working and will send it back to me. When I submit a new listing, I will Copy/Paste to a new Excel Sheet so that the macros are not transmitted with it. In fact my daughter may be able to create a button that will do just that. I will suggest that to her tonight. JoAnn AB8YZ

070 and LONP numbers
Stephen Melachrinos <melachri@...>
Just for everyone's benefit and use...
Unlike some other clubs, the 070 club does not require that either member numbers or LONP numbers be exchanged over the air for any awards or other purpose. That means you are free to look them up on the web site, either to add to your log entry for a QSO, or for determining how to submit for your own awards, or for other purposes (like targeting members you haven't worked).
The web page that lists all 070 club members is at
http://www.podxs070.com/lonp/070-member-info
Note that each member has a single line, but that membership may include multiple callsigns, due either to callsign changes or portable operations. Note also there is at least one case where a single callsign appears against two members (at different times) due to callsign changes. Lines with a black background are Silent Key(board)s.
Members of LONP (including their numbers) are at
http://www.podxs070.com/lonp/members-of-lonp
This page also includes the LONP Honor Roll (with at least 500 member contacts).

It's been said that no plan survives when you engage the enemy... the enemy was the weather. We had to spend this morning drying gear, tearing down and packing up. We had a small group out there this time and the club's goal was to work SSB from the ghost town and out at the 3 state intersection, not an easy task when you had to a keep a weather eye on the horizon.
We will try again in a couple of years. Sorry folks. -- Joe KC0OIO #1601
