Re: APE 'ing tomorrow. -- N6MG

Here in the sub-tropics, I can see my neighbor John - KC3FL calling CQ on 20 and a rag chew a while ago between NC and NY. Every once in awhile I see a trace from EU and then it disappears. Fun to watch John's signal change as he rotates that Hex beam! And that's about it on 20. Oops! FR5HA - Reunion Is. just popped up! Answered, but he can't hear me. Now on 40, all I saw was single FT-8 parked squarely on 7.071. I'll hang in on 20 for a bit. 1356 UTC

I'm monitoring 20 and 40M from the left coast.

I don't know if Milt has internet access, but if he does, a self-spot as to band and QRG would be handy for the Ape Hunters.

APE 'ing tomorrow. -- N6MG

I'll be up pre-dawn and heading to the top of Elsinore Peak for my APE activation for this weekend.
I'm optimistically trying to be CQ'ing about 1200 zulu. I'll go straight to 20 meters. If, initially, there's no signals, I'll try 40 meters until sunup. See all-y'all tomorrow! Milt. N6MG 070-650 LONP #76

JoAnn Donaldson
Bob, Thanks for seeing my print and coming back to me. I was on a Zoom call with some 3905CCN people and they asked me why I was so excited. I told them I just made contact with you on 20M PSK and what was going on. I could see a few switching their rigs to 20M, so I hope you made contact with some of them. JoAnn AB8YZ

Really appreciate the writeup Bob - thanks for taking the time to provide all the details and pics. I have been interested in portable operation (ie POTA) and your info/pics helped a lot with fleshing out the wish-list. Thanks again, Shawn KI5GX

Re: 366 status
Just a footnote to working the WTW... When I was working on WTW the bands were open to Europe almost daily and I worked many DX stations who had PODXS numbers and were helpful on other endorsements. Exchanged EPC numbers, but never did anything with EPC. Although I did earn the Worked All Italian ZIP Codes on PSK31 ! Rick is absolutely correct on making friends while working the 24/7. There was a station in Kansas (who changed his call since ) who was there many early AM hours and we both helped each other attain the 24/7. Lots of sleepless hours in the wee hours and fuzzy days at work, but it was fun ! Working the WTW should be a lot of fun with Cycle 25 gaining momentum ! Jerry N9AVY #454

Congrats Alan! A notable achievement. Takes hard work, dedication and perseverance. And so nice that you recognized those that helped along the way. No one makes 366 and 24/7 without building some long lasting friendships. Part of the joy of ham radio. I second Stan's suggestion of WTW next. To me it is the toughest of the Big Three - 366, 24/7, and WTW. -- Rick - N7WE 070 - #1602

Ron: Yes, QSB was very bad on my end as well. If time permits will look for you on Friday, but have a bunch of errands to run so time may be limited. Haven't worked you with 070#. We worked on 10m a few months back before you joined PODXS. Enjoy you trip and anniversary ! 73, Jerry n9avy #454

Jerry, Saw your call, but could make out almost nothing else. The QSB was pretty bad on my end. I didn't even try to list the trip as an APE because it is the first time I have had the radio up and running on vacation, and I wasn't sure it would work. Surprise, it works well. I will be in St Helens OR next week and will be on some then. I will also try to get back on from here in Waldport tomorrow, although since it's my 38th anniversary, the XYL may nix that, on the other hand being the 38th, she may not care HiHi. 73 Ron KE4DRF/7 On Thu, Aug 5, 2021 at 10:34 AM Jerry N9AVY <n9avy@...> wrote:
