Re: STICKERS? #new

There was a mailing in January giving all stickers  earned in the last part of 2020.

We will be preparing the mid year mailing over the next couple of weeks, and the necessary stickers, postage, envelopes, address labels, and other materials will be sent to the mailing team to assemble and mail.

Tom,
That is a result of the server being on PDT and me being in CDT, and the contest being in GMT.

Every contest I setup that timer, and for some reason there are times when the time conversion gets lost in this 77 year old mind.  Normally W9SMR keeps me on my toes, but apparently he didn't tell me it needed to be corrected.

I am in Missouri right now (Branson), and don't have my login info to access the server.

BTW, the Jesus performance at the Sight and Sound theater is awesome and worth the trip to Branson!

Ignore that item on the web page. It's auto-generated, and was apparently mis-programmed.

John,

Yes you are correct the PKT mode does default to LSB.  And yes I have read about the work around but don't have the rig yet to set it up.  Yes I have been told it is a great rig.  There was a problem with the temp switch and the fan didn't come on.  A member of a contest club agreed to go through it before I inherited it.  I hinted that I wanted to install a buffer board and tap the IF.  He agreed to install the buffer board but didn't realize he had to remove most to guts to access the RF board.  If I don't get it in a week or so I'm going to tell him to forget it.  It would be great to have a rig that I can see activity on the band.

I sold my TS-850SAT on Ebay and got low-balled on it, but it needed to go away. Bought it used around 1999-2000 for $1100 from a private party. Sold it for around $650.   Had a brand new in he box SR-8T which I bought new from AES in Milwaukee for $499 but sold it for around $400 after a couple $350 or less offers - hate those low ballers.

Still using FT-1000MP which I bought for around $1100 cash from a well-known area ham in early 2005. Got my money's worth out of it.

Yet, there are still some ops out there who have 10-0 year old radios they think are worth big bucks because they have "sentimental value" ... ohforpityssake !    Far too many hams out there who don't realize that much like cars when you take them home the price falls around 40%.

Lots of good deals on rigs out there, but one has to be extremely careful.

My $1.97 worth ...

I guess my attempt at a little humor and commentary on used rig prices missed the mark a little.  I know that the IC7300 is a HF/50mhz rig and does not cover UHF.  I just found it interesting that two major industrial MRO suppliers have branded them as UHF and have them priced at twice what HRO or Gigaparts has them priced at.  I am not sure what industry would purchase these.  One of them even had the entire Icom ham line listed on their website.
As for used prices, I agree with Jerry, people seem to think 15 or 20 year old radios should be priced at what the paid for them, not as what they are probably worth.  I would not purchase an used radio unless I had a chance to operate it for a bit and never one off of ebay.  I also agree with Jerry on shipping, since if I have to send my IC7410 back to Icom to have it repaired the cost would probably be over $75 since it weights 22.5 lbs.  I have found that major shippers seem to over charge the individual to make up for the discounts they give the big companies.

Getting ready for the sprint, hope not Tstorms occur.

Not sure abt the Mark V but my 1000-MP defaults to LSB in the pkt mode.  I setup a user key to use USB in the data mode but it doesn't work on the Mark V.  I'm sure someone out there has a fix for it.  It's a great rig, has two receivers that you can listen to at the same time.  Makes spotting the listening freq. of a station working a split a piece of cake.

JoAnn,

Yes I'm going to use the West Mountain RIGBlaster.  The only difference is that a club member is currently installing an IF buffer board so I can output the IF to my SDRplay.  I will first interface the Yaesu to FLDIGI to make sure everything works.  Then I will try to use SDRUno and SDRPlay.  I'm a retired engineer but software drives me crazy.  I will take you up on the Yaesu help.

I used to use a FT-1000MP-V, so I can real help is it's settings. What kind of interface are you using. I used to use the West Mountain Sound Card Interface.
I am currently using a Flex 6400M and the interfacing with it is done entirely thru it's interface.

Completely agree.  Your specific rig settings can be frustrating also.  I have a IC-7200 and I tried all the FLDIGI rig control methods.  I have finally have gone to using FLRIG for rig control.  With a little macro programming in FLRIG I now almost never touch the rig.  I'm soon to inherit a Yaesu FT-1000MP-V.  This will be a test of my patience.  I might even post some of my discoveries during the process.
