Re: 070 Award Checker log errors

Thanks Jerry.

I can easily pull out the PSK entries and clutter things with the other modes.  BTW, nice to work you during Field Day, I'll be looking to work you again sometime.

Re: 070 Award Checker log errors

Stephen Melachrinos

I just want to temper that a little.

Most people upload their entire logs every time. That makes it simpler, as most people use loggers that can export the entire ADIF in one shot. (One note: you really should only export PSK31 QSOs, as those are the only ones that matter to us. Including non-PSK QSOs makes the files bigger, and slows down processing.)

But the real rule is that you MUST upload all the QSOs you need FOR THE ENDORSEMENT you are trying to achieve. Each upload overwrites your previous upload, so you can't do incremental uploads. But you CAN upload:

- Just the QSOs with 070 members for LONP credit
- Just the QSOs with key grid squares for the grid endorsements
- Just the QSOs with Australian stations for Worked All Oz
- A single QSO with a legit KL7 station for Alaska
etc

But if you do this, you can't upload another file until that particular endorsement is awarded. Otherwise the endorsement czar (Jerry) won't see the supporting data and will reject it.

So like I said, most people just upload their entire PSK log. But there may be some special circumstances for which the ability to do partial uploads makes makes sense. It can be done, but you have to understand the process to do it correctly.

Every time you upload your log to the checker it MUST BE ENTIRE LOG.  Partial uploads will not work.

Using N3FJP  I upload only PSK31 QSOs because I have other modes in N3FJP.

Don't know about DXCC (DX stations ) .

Am sure others will be able to offer better help.

As new guy, I immediately uploaded my scrawny log file (from FLDIGI) and noticed there were 7 records with DXCC errors (None of the 65 records in my logfile had the DXCC field defined/populated).  As an old IT guy, errors bother me... a lot :)
  1. How do I correct those errors?  Create new ADI file and re-upload (see #2 below) and what does that do the processing & existing database records?
  2. Should I be extracting/uploading my log from N3FJP (I use QRZ to populate missing grid data)?  I believe the answer is yes based on fields required for awards.
  3. Going forward, do I upload a complete log each time or incremental since last upload?
Want to get off to relative good start and not create extra load on the server.
Thank you for your help and patience

Reminder 2021 FD Stickers

stan W9SMR

I hope that you participated in the 2021 FD and enjoyed that experience. The PODXS 070 Club offers Stickers to reward you for that participation and for uploading to ARRL.

There are two stickers available.

1)  Firstly there is the existing Field Day Participation Sticker

This is for anyone who participates in Field Day in any way, (including setup/tear-down, KP duty, etc.) either individually or as part of a group.

2) Secondly, - The Field Day Club Upload Sticker

The second Sticker is for folks who participate on their own (not part of another group) and upload their log info to ARRL

For 2021 Field Day Entry go to:  https://field-day.arrl.org/fdentry.php

Important: If you participated in FD, please upload to ARRL indicating your club affiliation as PODXS 070.  “PODXS 070” will appear in the drop-down for Club or Group Name. All you have to do is select (click on) it.
Note that according to the rules, that upload may consist of:

"Cabrillo log or list of stations worked by band/mode (dupe sheet)"

You may upload using only 1 Club association. So if you are already part of another Field Day group and uploading your log as part of their score, you can’t earn our Field Day Club Upload Sticker. You can still earn the Field Day Participation Sticker.

3) Notify me: I will put you on the list!

Simply send an email directly to me robinstan (at) Hotmail (dot) com by Tuesday, July 27, 2021. (Last day to upload to ARRL)

Please use 2021 Field Day in the subject line.

The body of your email needs only your Call and Member number. Please note if you also uploaded your log info to ARRL.

You will be eligible for the FD Participation Sticker even if you do not upload to ARRL.

The Field Day Club Upload Sticker may not be available next year. Grab it while you can.

Last year 36 members participate in FD and 17 members uploaded and we had a 5,198 Score. Let’s beat that this year!

Bob,
Dx Engineering has a spot on their website called "Ask a question" technical questions.  Submit a question and if they don't sell anything to help you they usually point you in a direction to get answers.  I've used this several times and they were pretty quick to give me an answer.

Yes, guess I was in a FD daze when I did these.   BTW, had a storm come through, broke off my flagpole, and one of the 80" rods on the counterpoise assembly of my GAP.

I did use the GAP some during FD, but, only on 20 and 40.

Solar panels and radio

Bob Motyl KK6KMU

I'm in process looking at having electrical solar panels installed at my QTH.  My research has revealed that solar panels create RFI in the armature band.  It appears that it up to the owner to mitigate the noise.  I see Palomar Engineering has some mitigation products but wanted to see if anyone operates with solar on their QTH,  I am looking at solar panels with micro inverters if that helps.  All comments are welcomed.
