Modified the way the counterpoise is used for the 12m vertical.
At 1900z... 20m, FT8 @ 9 watts SO, PSK31 @ 70 watts should work?.
I "just" need people listening.

I did make some QSO's.
At 2200z and then some... I packed up the Rig, Computer, and Solar Power "generator" from the deck to have dinner (I am not leaving the rig out on the deck for all to see as they drive/walk by - we live on a corner, so no "backyard".)

OK, I did get on and make a few QSO last night.  Later then I expected as company dropped by.

NOW, today (after 1200z)  I had problems getting the "working last night" W10 machine and Winwabler to work (correctly - as it was last night).  Is it the heat (87F going to 92F) ??  maybe?

I switched to my Raspberry Pi + Fldigi.  It is working, but I am seeing only PSK63 and stations working EU PSK contest.

IT IS hot, I am going to try later this afternoon.  I was only running 5 Watts, but solar...  The 12m mast with 12m wire/9:1 balun tunes well.  I tested 80m to 15m with good SWR before using the ATU.

I am trying to "iron" out the kinks with Winwabler.  I have used it before, its been a while.  Not using Raspberry Pi as I "think" Winwabler (and W10) may be better for "contests" aka FD.

Tomorrow, morning (after 1200z) I plan on being portable.

CHIMP CHASE  -  Let Us Know Your Plans

You’ve had a couple weeks to make your plans. Please let us know if you plan to go Chimp Chase portable and we will look for you!!

A Chimp qualified portable expedition site must be away from your home radio shack. You may use home power but you need to set up a temporary/portable antenna and station away from the home shack. Backyard ops and park picnic benches are encouraged for this category.

Tom,
If you have checked "Enable Real Time Upload" in ACLOG you can find your contacts on your LOTW page.  You could also download your log for the past few days from LOTW and ACLOG will  add them to your log.  You won't get all the info but you will get the important stuff.

Dear Friends,

Somehow, I lost my log data while trying to transfer my CHIMP contacts from the ACLog to an ADIF file.  Therefore, I cannot confirm anything in QRZ.com and/or LoTW.  I SHOULD HAVE MADE A BACKUP AS I WAS OPERATING.

If you had a QSO with me yesterday, and If you so desire, I can take your contact data and log it into QRZ.com and LoTW. Then, I will attempt to submit the info. to PODXS 070 by ADIF format, only if I have 5 or more contacts, in accordance with  the rules.

Rick, I never made it back on 40 meters last night. Couldn’t tune my antenna to 40 meters and was too tired to troubleshoot and mess with it. May or may not be back as a  chimp today, but could work from base to hand out lonp credits for new members if the propagation is good for us out here in the upper left corner!

Re: N7WE/P - EFHW?

Rick - N7WE

Well Milt, I'm not sure it is really an EFHW.  Maybe it is a random wire or a long wire.  I get confused with all the different terminology.  After my magmount problem with the HamSticks last night, I cobbled this together this morning from stuff I had on hand .  It is approx 70 feet of  wire (18 guage insulated multi-strand copper).  I set it up as an inverted L using a 23 ft. kite pole and then over to a tree limb about 15 ft above ground.  I'm feeding it with a homebrew 9:1 Balun at ground level and the ground side is tied into my radials for the Hustler 6BTV - 40 radials of random length cut to fit in my small back yard.  The vertical portion is about 7 feet off center of the radial field.  The ATU in my K3 will tune it to 1:1.2 on both 20m and 40m.  So that's OK, but it is deaf, deaf, deaf compared to the Hustler vertical.  Seems to get out well though as I worked a station in Venezuela with 35W and he gave me a "solid copy."  Of course, he probably had a beam at 120' - hi hi.  It's better than nothing, but I'm going to work on something different and better for the next Chimp Chase.

Hope this helps with your questions.

Got on for a bit last night, but only a couple stations. Same old call signs I always work, but where were all the "new guys" ? Was ailing so I went QRT early.

Was out in garage trying to locate all my goodies which got shuffled by my Daughters "cleaning" efforts.  Anything and everything was stuffed into boxes and I started to sort it all out.  Sheesh, what a mess ! So, far just one small shelf is done in a 2 car garage.  Maybe more tomorrow because I started to pass out. Now in A/C with a cold one and resting.

Might check 20/40m later but all I hear now is PSK63... UGH  the noise !

Rick, et al...
Wouldn't it be nice to understand everything you know about something? Or even to ask an intelligent question about it?
What is your EFHW? I know what an "End Fed Half Wave" is, but there's 100 different kinds.
What's your configuration?
I've got a Chameleon EMCOMM III, brand new, in the box that I want to deploy as one of our club's Field Day effort antenna's. I want to deploy the balun at the top of a flagpole, on a pully, with the long element going "Flat" to a nearby tree, (83' of wire), and the ground lug coming straight down to a ground rod.
When you get a chance...
