Don:

Just tried xmiting on 160m, but am only getting out a watt or so  Emoji  ugh !  Looks like I have some work ahead.   Tree in front yard where one end of sloper is attached grew over the years and and is now about 25 ft. up, but it needs to be at least 1/2 that.

Another alternative is to change out vertical in back yard (HF-6V) and replace it with a 43 ft. vertical I acquired a couple years ago, but that will require changing out pipe in ground for a 2 inch diameter one.  Soil here is most clay (like concrete) and rocks ,,, McHenry county is where a lot of gravel & sand comes from for construction projects in area.

Looks like back to drawing board !

SWR is 13 !!!!   That's bad and will cause overheating of finals.  SWR should be 2.1:1 at the most.  Mine typically stays around 1.5 or less.  Hope you're just reading your meter wrong.

Can we try this evening ???

Congrats, Bill!

Be on the lookout for David, VE7BGD, 070 #1881, of Delta, BC who needs only these 3 dates in March to complete his 366 Award:

March 19, 20, and 21

Of our 2,829 members, only 45 have OFFICIALLY achieved 366.

However, according to uploads made since the first of the year, 2021, the following have logged the necessary QSO’s to qualify for the 366 Award:

F8BFU, K4ARE, K5KHK, KC4OBB, KE0GHU, WB8YXF, WM4B, KG5OIB

Needing only a single date for 366 are: M5PLY (Feb. 19), R6KEE (Dec. 15) and SA7BXU (Oct. 30)

Congrats to all on your persistence in pursuing and achieving this cherisher award.

If you see VE7BGD on the air, be sure to give him a call and make his DAY. I am sure there are many more who need March dates, also. Even if you have worked a fellow member before, please answer that CQ. Let’s make 366 happen for as many as you can.

To see what dates you need, upload your full log and check the "Online Endorsement Checker". In the "In Progress" section, click on "Target" for the 360 category and a list of needed dates will show. If you have a problem seeing that, please just let me know.

After all the antenna troubles I've had this Winter, think luck has changed.  Was messing around with tuning up on 80m and it was a snap; so I went to 1807 and tried to tune up there and it worked like magic !   Called CQ  a couple times, but no takers.

Pretty good week so far worked some DX on 20m, a new LONP or 2 and a bunch of stateside stations. Even good old LoTW is mysteriously working from N3FJP.  Wow !  Guess I'm ready for St. Pat's contest  !!!

BTW, heard an HS (Thailand)  station on 20m PSK this morning, he had decent signal, but think he had lots of QRM cause he never answered.

St. Paddy's Day - Deja Vu...All over again

Ahem!...Who says the West Coast can't win a contest?
Back in the day, our very good & active member, and friend, Karen, W4KRN, 070-215, was the "High Sheriff" of the St. Paddy's Day Operating Event/Contest.
Along with her generous donation of time & just being a good natured fellow 070 member, she volunteered to custom make an award for the Top Dawg.
Ha!...The West Coast can't win a contest??
I'm going to give it my best shot again this year.
On this day in 2011, the "Observed SFI" was 101.1.
At the moment it's 75.
E'nuf said about the "big gray cloud" called propagation.
Looking for everybody in the Operating Event/Contest.
